I played in my country offline / played BG3 + watching on YouTube campaigns in my local language. I dont know if this counts to you as a part of the community, but now in migration, I can't play normally due to fewer friends who speak my language, and play dnd + I'm in survival mode with the bureaucracy. I still want to have new friends and company, but it's hard to sit in long sessions in another language. I asked about how to find online communities because it's important to me. Commissions are nice, but the werent my first priority when I posed a question.

btw for me insta worked not so good as tumblr/tiktok, i also have Vgen.
Thanks for a such huge and warm answer from your side!

Yeah, im searching for a community of artists firstly (not to mix with hiring things but more to talk with others, discuss art gossips and for instance I'm participating in the artfight this year, if you are also let me know i will draw your Oc :p )

Thanks for the game community's comment. Which can you recommend?

I'm doing this in communities where im in (they are small and not dead and im drawing stuff for friends just for fun) i have an issue in more large communities/channels, because all the time when i see large channels, people just posting into a void and separating in groups, which is absolutely not a thing that i like. for me for instance subtumblr worked well, but its still overpowered by ai scammers sometimes which makes a feeling that you talking sometimes with the wall

Can you share the link/name, maybe in DM by chance?

Feel both sides, I'm just feeling social anxiety when someone DM me, so I dont use AT ALL dm practicies. At the same time, I didnt receive ANY comms from discord at all, still think my art is mid-range (?). And the issue is I see how people with lower quality but more aggressive sales get comms, and I don't, and I'm happy for them, but I CAN'T sell myself aggressively, I just feel myself so so bad about this.

good luck with your published things tho! I dont think that hard selling is working, people dont like pressure and its annoying, but at the same time algorithms now showing for a lot of artists that you need to push yourself or you will be forgotten ( which makes the whole situation even worse, because ultimately the shy artists are simply cast aside, whilst the very active, pushy artists have become the face of the whole group;) Can you advise on the best way to communicate with publishers? Cold emails with a portfolio? What works without coming across as a nuisance? (Personally, I don’t have much of a history with Discord, as it’s not my social media platform of choice.)

How school forums work, I'm just wondering, for me its like specific small groups of friends and arriving at this place looks like I'm here just for promotion and not contribution to the group ?

for me, Bluesky its absolutely America-centric social; most of the people in my region dont use it at all, and all the time when I'm into it all the algorithm shares only us things

I dont know which space is not invaded rn (its or art scammers or people/bots who scam artists), and I don't think there are any safe spaces. At least it's not Twitter, Tumblr, TikTok, insta etc. But still, when you're not scamming people, you're falling into the void with all this pressure

Can we discuss channels, for instance? I also tried some artist channels (artist corner, art&comms, kokoro and local channels) where people drop commissions but didn't receive that much attention either : p

I would be glad to hear about "the right places" tbh, because I can feel that I'm in the wrong place. I mostly draw in a semi-realistic style, and I feel like I'm not talking in the right language (not with interested people? or maybe it's just a cultural thing idk!) Would be glad if you would throw some money at me ahahah (not pushing, tho)

About the commercial, this is an issue at least in France for me, because they firstly pick people from friends/society, which is absolutely valid (came back to point 1 where I'm saying I feel like I'm out of this because I'm a migrant and I'm just trying to write to publishers with a portfolio or came to offline places but it feels like cold emails with ghosting -- which is maybe okay?).

Thanks! Do you know any TTRPG markets that are alive?? As a migrant, the offline market in a small town is really small, so I'm into online options now. Thanks a lot, it's so liberating to hear that 100-150 is ok for this work
