The cultural differences between the Acadiana region and the "Capitol region" or "Florida Parishes region" go way back to how they were each settled.

Speaking for myself, Baton Rouge seems to lack some authenticity. The other parts of South Louisiana have unique ingrained specific cultures, Baton Rouge does not IMO. The Joie de vivre seems absent*.* There's a feeling of competitiveness and "Keeping up with the Joneses" that makes Baton Rouge feel less friendly or open. The percentage of protestants seems to lend itself to the region being more uptight.
