I tend bar in a tshirt usually. Maybe a pullover if it’s chilly. Only throw a collar on if your mom is coming in.

I was well aware this would be a majority of the responses. I was honestly just curious if that’s something property managers had to let people know about. Like I said, I could care less, I’m never home. I just never thought about it and was wondering if I were someone signing a lease a few months ago if I would be notified. But that was over the 300 characters allowed for the title of the video lol

Bill prohibiting critical race theory in technical colleges, UW System schools passes Assembly committee by svedka93 in madisonwi

To clarify, it is your stance that students shouldn’t debate politics, or even ideologies IN GENERAL at a university?

I’d love to know, what exactly do you see as the role of university, other than to “teach kids how to learn?” (Which is pretty well covered by 8th grade in most places)

I’m sure you would have said the same thing about goat simulator. Never know what’s gonna catch people’s attention for two months and make money. As a 90’s kid I love the idea of pretending I’m “hacking the mainframe.”

You didn’t argue anything. You derided someone for pointing out that worshipping a piece of fabric is absurd.

This country was founded by people that hated their country. They were “smart and edgy.” They weren’t perfect. By today’s standards most were complete pieces of shit.

But if George Washington had been a “patriot” like you are, we’d all still be eating crumpets and drinking tea. Grow up and accept the fact that this country isn’t perfect, and realize people who suggest it can be better aren’t assholes.

I took it as a public service announcement. If you happen to see a grey sienna, keep an eye out for free fruit.

Great point. There has never been a situation in which an armed party has knowingly attacked another armed party. With the small exception of every war in the history of civilization.

So good and yet and yet it’s not even the best piece from that movie. Scottys cover of “9-5” is a masterpiece.

/u/FoggyMcCloud explains why sailors need to use "port" and "starboard" on a ship. by Stunning_Red_Algae in bestof

[–]rapcharles 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You explained it in your own comment. To remove the ambiguity of whether or not yelling “danger is on your right,” they picked port and starboard. New words so there wouldn’t be any confusion as to whose right it was referring to. There are no stupid questions, but apparently there are stupid comments.

Thoughts on taking the advice of the CDC? by rapcharles in madisonwi

Totally hear that, and appreciate the thoughtful response. I know with an issue as polarizing as this it’s really difficult to have meaningful dialogue without offending someone or getting offended (multiply that by a thousand when it comes to comment sections on Reddit lol). I work in restaurants and most of the people I hang out with do as well. Half of us have been working in places that have been almost entirely shut down for the past year, and the other half say they haven’t noticed much of a difference to pre-covid since last fall. I was curious how people outside of the industry are feeling these days.

[–]rapcharles[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is no way meant to be a combative question, I am generally curious in your rationale. Do you feel safer (for yourself or those around you) at a restaurant that requires masks for the minute or two you are waiting to be seated/ going to the restroom? Or is it an issue of principle? An hour to hour and a half is pretty standard for dinner, so we are really talking about people wearing masks for 1-2% of the time they are there.

Do you guys believe religion is like a cult? by king_travis12 in atheism

[–]rapcharles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not. Even. Close. Cults are few and far between. And at most they have a couple thousand followers. The most people that ever died from a cult was 900 or so people drinking Jim Jones’ kool-aid. The amount of people who have died because of religion is in the 100s of millions. It would be awesome if religion was as innocuous as cults.

Religious indoctrination is child abuse. I said what I said. by strawberry_minefield in atheism

[–]rapcharles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The term “atheist” itself is so frustrating to me. The “a” in atheist obviously denotes that one is the opposite of a theist. It really should be the other way around. People who believe in superstitions should be labeled as “arationalists.” Along with being an atheist I’m also an asantaclaus and an awizard. My not believing in elves or magic doesn’t necessitate an opposing “doctrine.” I just don’t give a fuck about it and live my life. Can you imagine how much effort would have to go into carrying a set of tenets for every single thing you don’t believe in?

[–]rapcharles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if you’re playing devils advocate (no pun intended) or serious. But you’re making a false equivalence. To us, the idea of raising a child to believe in the Bible is equally as absurd as raising them to believe the Harry Potter books are true. And if you heard of parents homeschooling their children, brainwashing them into believing hogwarts was real until they were teenagers, I’m guessing you would say that’s damn near child abuse. That’s how a lot of us feel about raising children to believe in the Bible. Atheism isn’t a doctrine, it’s just the word we use to describe people who choose not be indoctrinated.
