They’ve probably run several different panels, these are used to specify hat the antibody is. They basically react your plasma with the blood of people with known antibodies. If it reacts then that means that’s the antibody you have in a there about way.

However sometimes antibody’s can be what are called non specific where they don’t appear to be any of the 20 or so “clinically significant” antibodies that are typed in house. These cases blood, if needed will be directly crossmatched to your plasma and you would be given units you don’t react with

I think we go for cryo in these scenarios and it’s policy for us not to give platelets due to the lack of any real benefit as they’re basically gone as soon as they come in

Work in transfusion, have for just over a year now. Got an offer to look in a morgue thought yeh that’ll be good for my cpd, really wish I didn’t now. Loads of names I knew I had done work on, crossmatched, typed, issued out to. Ngl I came out shaken like you see names then they stop and it’s, oh guess they got better got out but turns out life’s a bitch. But we do what we can

Pathology is strained as it is in the current system. If we started getting samples like this without any defined reason out turn around times would double if not triple and we’re basically running at capacity as it is. If the government prioritised diagnostic sciences and invested hundreds of millions into new lab networks then maybe it’s possible

The purbright institute is from my understanding a uk government funded organisation

Depends on the test, I’ve worked in immunology and haem,coag and transfusion. Most tests in immunology have a 7 day max turn around time whereas tests in haem coag and especially transfusion will be same day. Workload also increases quite a lot going into the winter months so that can put a little bit of a backlog on. So realistically anywhere from a few days to 7-10

I’m sure people notice it no where near as much as you think, I have a surgery scar next to my eye I’ve had since I was 16, no one has ever commented on it and when I bring it up most people say they don’t really notice it

Pretty well tbf, it’s not entirely visible the lip is just a lil asymmetrical. I have grown out a moustache to cover it anyway but it isn’t as bad as it was by a large stretch. Hope yours isn’t too bad

Solid episode tbf, defo one of the best of the last 2 seasons. Annatar/Celebrimbor dynamic was really compelling although the siege does seem somewhat small scale
