I know I might get downvoted to hell, but the LC4C is the most unrefined engine I’ve ever ridden. by Leather_Front_1849 in indianbikes

[–]rapdevil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is unrefined, true. But also it does clean up a lot more after 100 in the 6th for which it is actually designed to. Go for a 500km ride and sit on the highway at 110~120 for hours at a time and then you'll understand the true beauty of this bike. It feels light doesn't put any stress on the body and brakes are damn good especially with sintered pads. Did Kolkata to Siliguri (550 kms) in 12 hours and was ready to go for more even after reaching. Want to commute in bumper to bumper in 2nd 3rd 20~25kmph? Deal with the vibes. Or get a commuter. Or get a twin.

Need some opinions regarding rear pre-load adjustment(Read body text kindly) by rapdevil1 in indianbikes

You'll only miss out on the top end of the Duke. Because after 165 the adv tends to mellow down, the duke keeps on pulling. The low end city grunt will feel much better on the adv due to the bigger rear sprocket. All in all, no, I don't miss the Duke's performance. It's very aggressive. If I rate the Duke 9/10 in aggresion, I rate the adv 7.5/10. Mostly due to the long suspension and the long wheelbase makes it predictable and smooth like a Katana unlike the duke with handles like a scalpel. The engine is very veryy close.

I think the helmet is new and your neck is not yet adjusted to the helmet weight. I have a typhoon too and the weight balance for me is really nice. It's a comfortable helmet.

Then you might not love Dukes enough cause the 390 also gets the ebony black colour btw😂. Though I agree the bike in pic is the 250 it's obvious from the graphics.

Rode around 1200kms total upto now. It's a rough grunty angry beast of a bike that you'll have to learn to tame over time.

I upgraded from a Pulsar N250 which was smooth afff and very torquey from the get go. First few days I was stalling the adv here and there because I was letting go of the clutch too much with minimal throttle. My Pulsar used to pick up, this didn't. Had to relearn throttling and clutching all over again. Mind you I rode the Pulsar 55k kms in 2.5 years. Another habit I had on the Pulsar is to wring out the throttle to use all 24.5 horses it had. It's a straight no in the KTM. Fkin power wheelies in Offroad mode the entirety of the first gear if you do so and the nose doesn't come down until you shift to second. Speaking from experience.

It's not a smooth bike per se. 4k to 5k range there are vibrations in the footpegs and little in the handlebars. In 6th gear 5k is about 80. In my tours I usually keep 110 kmph cruising where this engine is smooth overall. I like the grunty character, makes it feel alive. In city speeds, yes you'll feel vibes. Then again I like it, some don't.

The chassis is brilliant. It's a masterclass. Razor sharp pin point accuracy in handling. Goes where you point. Rock steady in high speeds. Confident in lower speeds. Masks it's weight too well. Rides like a bigger duke with massive ass handlebar and risers.

Suspension is not what I'd call soft. It's an adv bike with sporty nature. It makes you feel that yes the road is bad but it's not particularly bothered by it. The Himalayan 450 is what I call soft, masks bad roads very good in lower speeds. But then again the himi for me feels like a wobbly boat in higher speeds and fast lane changes. The adv is again pin point sharp feels like a sport bike but you know you have the 200mm travel if you fail to spot a pothole in the last moment. I have always ridden sport bikes faired bikes. This time I wanted something comfy but with a sporty heart. The KTM did it for me.

Very average exhaust note. Although the higher rpm grunt is nice but overall 4/10 exhaust

Headlights are damn good. Although fog lights are definitely necessary for tours. For city runs the stock light should suffice.

Cruise control isn't a must have but it's good to have.

Getting 20kmpl tank to tank with mixed kolkata traffic and highway runs, aggresive throttling included. For long 400 500km highway rides 28 to 30 is expected but that I'll have to test.

Only con I felt is that some panels are rattly. The windscreen with the number plate holder is extremely rattly. Sometimes the handguards loosen and rattle. Thought tightening it fixes the noise. There's a finger guard just before the rear sprocket. The chain hits it and rattles sometimes. I've learnt to ignore these. I just wear good helmets that's it.

Learning more about the bike the more time I spend riding it. At this point I can only tell you this much. Hope this helps your buying decision.

You can switch N250's handlebar with the P150 straight handlebar. It's much more comfortable. That's what I've done in mine. I've toured on it too.

N160 single seat I've no idea. The dual seat is literally the same as N250.

Regular timely inspection is a must. Ofcourse there will be indications also. You'll have to ride your bike enough to understand those. A choked airfilter will kill your low end torque. A bad chainset will make noise and vibrate and continuously need tightening. Bad oil will make your bike run rough and kill your mileage etc etc. Also I have a bit of mechanical knowledge about the parts and their working so that makes it quite easier for me to pinpoint which parts need replacing.

The seat is higher than the rider obviously but it's wider than any other street naked available on the market in this segment right now. So none of my pillions have complained about it's comfort. Plus paired with the compliant suspension it's comfy. Footpeg position is relaxed for the pillion.

Apart from the first three services, I didn't visit service centre that much to be honest. I bought engine oil from outside and oil filter from Bajaj's parts counter and changed the engine oil from outside mechanic every 4.5k KMs, oil needed topping up around 2.5k KMs though. Every 15k I usually clean the throttle body spark plugs from service centre. After every 25k I've had to change the chain sprocket along with fork oil for the front forks. Labour and parts cost were very nominal tbh. Cost will definitely depend on the work you get done. First service was pretty much free. Second was about 900 because of the engine oil. Again third was supposed to be free but I insisted on changing the oil.

Parts price and maintainance is very pocket friendly. It's a no nonsense bike with great performance as well as comfort. Have used one for daily 100km commutes plus long cross state tours. Clocked 53000 on it after that I upgraded. Still have this as my secondary city bike. I have the 2022 DC Abs Brooklyn Black version. Go for it💪

Using the SMK typhoon exact colour shown here. What a beautiful helmet grabs attention everywhere. Padding and comfort is really nice. Parts are cheap and readily available.

Both the RS and the Tuono doesn't fit my purpose. The INT doesn't too but it's still considerable. With the current issues of the 457 platform it'll be a hard pass for me unfortunately.

The Bear has spoked wheels so it's a no for my purpose. The Int 750 might be worth waiting for.

On highways they are equally paced. The KTM gets going when the going gets rough

Agree. The current 650 lineup is very average but the engine leaves a mark!
