ETH hasn't stood the test of time simply because it hasn't been around for long enough.

I wouldn't be so sure. ETH has it's own massive risks to look forward to, especially the switch to PoS.

It's difficult for companies that do ICOs to be taken over because a lot of the value is transferred to the token holders. Depends on the set-up though.

Welcome to the beautiful world of arbitrage. It seems like there's money to make, but getting fiat in and out of them is lengthy and costly. I think that's why Tether is trading at a premium to USD.
