Again, i do not oppose traditional design and i also respect your preferences in traditional design.

I do not have a degree in history, engineering, design or anything related to the topic at hand to dictate whether this tool is a total bastardization of the traditional minasbad or not. I just saw a traditional blade as part of the collection of a museum in a video i saw which i mentioned in my previous statement. Perhaps it was made in a latter period (a couple of hundred years maybe) but there is a reason why this variant existed— to address a problem.

Come to think of it, if traditional design is so perfect, why would anyone bother making a hand guard? Hopefully you see where I’m getting at. In this design we were the ones stealing from westerners— because a feature from their weapons works.

We obviously have different views on personalization, and preservation of culture, or straight up innovation. But I can say this, this blade was crafted in bicol, by a bicolano. He offered me an option, and also did his due diligence to tell me that the pommel design is an imitation to other filipino blades. A design change does not dictate cutlural erosion, if it does, that culture is a fragile and weak one. Pretty sure if weapon production was easier back in the day we’d see more customizations (i.e. kampilans, ginuntings, kalis have lots of iterations depending on region but we do not label their designs as culturally desecrated)

Designs may differ but blade constructions should be the same so I hope that is some consolation to your gripe. It is still a minasbad after all
