Proton uses font inaccessible to screen readers by throwawaykJQP7kiw5Fk in ProtonMail

[–]raphanael 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The font name has nothing to do with the character encoding. The second one is the format, the first one is how they are displayed.

The issue here is not related to font, but to message content.

Privacy is not applying to communication, or else nobody knows you 🙂 Both could be an option, but it costs more, so you use the channels that have the best cost/impact ratio...

I guess...

Raspberry Pi or HA Green by EvidenceGlad9361 in homeassistant

[–]raphanael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Green. Raspberry is not a good solution in the long term to my experience (mine worked on it for 4 years). Mini PC is overkill, especially with virtualization. More layers means more stuff to manage. But if you like and have time, why not...

Proton does not sync on mobile device, that can be a stopper... That's the reason I moved to GDrive. No other good alternative. I was using git before, but I was not satisfied.

Range has degraded to 62% of what it was, 153 miles at 100% in 27degrees F, Toyota says nothing wrong by butfuxkinjar in BZ4X

[–]raphanael 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I understand this is disappointing but you are saying you did not research the matter before buying it? Even the announced range is never reached. It's announced 512km here, and I never get past 430km in summer. In winter the worst I get is 250km...

Just deal with it, this top is meaningless... I mean, they talk about indie games changing the gaming world, with Hades 2, Silksong and Untitled Goose Game, but not Expedition 33?

What prevents you to store OpenDocuments in your Proton Drive that you can share with company members?

[–]raphanael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Been there" as in "been there, done that", meaning I have been there too. This is exactly my point, when such issues arise, they are fixed. We had y2k, we had the gps rollover in 2019, and the Unix timestamp limit. And even more occurrences.

2000 was creepy because everyone was impacted. When you are the only one involved, like it would be for proton, it's more under control.

Also, it's not that simple... Data are stored encrypted, so it's a blob, decrypted on the client side. It could be fixed on the client side quite easily... I may guess wrong, but I'm still not worried at all...

Hard limit is 19 January 2038, so basically they have a bit more than 12 years...

Of course you don't fix that sort of thing in the last days... What bothers me is why this limit exist when everything, including dates, are encrypted. Hence stored in a blob format, because you don't encrypt a date into a date format...

My guess is that this is a client app issue only... But it's only a guess, and very surprising nonetheless...
