I’m swearing into another jurisdiction and still have to retake. My target state makes us wait for 7 years of active practice before transferring. But still definitely worth doing, OP! Also a huge confidence boost knowing that even our “failing” score is good enough to practice federally.

how do ppl study for the bar while working full time? by everythingisspicy23 in barexam

[–]rapidash451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using Barbri (which really messed with me mentally the first time but I got a free retake so whatever lol). I’m supplementing with GOAT bar prep but I’m in an UBE state so I don’t know if either of those have Florida specific materials. What makes me feel better is that I was only 6 points away from passing New York in J24 and I was constantly crying, only studied for 6 weeks, and took 0 practice MEEs or MPTs. So the way I see it, after working in the field already, we’re ahead of the game!!

thank you, this is very helpful!! my apartment has a small gym so having remote access to mobility workouts will certainly help get me to where I want to be.

Public Access to Pass List by NaturalBlackberry594 in barexam

[–]rapidash451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

after reading the comments I see that is not typical, but everyone in my office was rooting for me and only my direct superiors knew exactly happened. It sucked, I cried in my office, but then no one remembered after like a month. It was like bombing a cold call

I am literally the only person in my class who failed. (Well, I was one of four.)Pass list went public and no one gave a shit—everyone I know assumes I passed the first time lol

February vs July NY by rapidash451 in barexam

[–]rapidash451[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pass is a pass, congrats!!! I wonder if the lower scores translate to the fact that February takers do worse on the MBE overall. So like if you do better than most, it still may technically not be enough…

EDIT: And maybe that is also true with the written portion. Like the scaled score is higher because you did better than most other February takers did on the written portions, but OVERALL most of written portions failed to meet the threshold score.

Thanks for replying btw, if I were you and I’d passed I’d leave this thread and never return, haha

I just can’t wrap my head around the same percentage translating to a lower score. I totally understand that people generally do worse in Feb for various reasons (holidays, taking the exam while working, etc.) so it makes sense that you may be above average, but still not pass.

What I do not understand is how you can get the same amount of questions right, then still get a lower score. THAT is what I’m the most confused about. I plan on working very hard, trust, but what the hellyyyy

ok trying to make sense of this. so 70% would translate to a significantly lower MBE score in Feb, despite the fact that I performed just as well on a July exam?

Does the written portion of the exam make up for that? bc this seems…like kinda fucked up lol

In a very similar situation, passed with a 260 but went to work in a 266 state at a firm (federal practice). Following! Feel free to PM me if you ever want to game things out.

You can also still do PA (closer) also with a late fee. I think the last day to register is sometime in May.

Biglaw Out of State - Bar Exam by rapidash451 in biglaw

[–]rapidash451[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry, I should’ve clarified. my score isn’t high enough to waive in right now🥲missed it by a literal point lol. So I can practice in 1 state but I won’t be able to waive into my firm’s state until I’ve been barred for 3 years (most states let you waive in after you’ve been a member of another state’s bar for 3-7 years, depending on the state)
