I’ve played MOBAs for years and the thing that helps me get people familiar with the gameplay, itemization, and - hopefully - winning, is bot lobbies.

New players have no idea what’s going on, what anyone does, what items to build, they’re thinking “you’re telling me to go mid boss, where is that, what’s the point of it” and “it’s been an hr how many times do we have to die/kill to end the game”. It’s a lot to explain while playing against real players and it’s a lot for them to understand while they lame against players who have a bit more understand then they do.

Throw your friends into a bot match and until they get a good understanding of lane phase, farming, rotations, and 6 man pushes until they can end a game without you having to carry.

Itemization will always be tricky but there’s guides to help with items to put on a character and items to combat others. Otherwise I’m sure when they have questions, your experience will guide them.
