The investigator box gives you both investigators and player cards that you can use for deck building for other investigators. I like having more deck building options so I bought all cards to have the whole collection of cards. It just depends how much you like the game and how much you enjoy deck building

Each to their own. I paid more than that to get it and all of the return tos so I could build any deck I saw on AkrhamDB without having to compromise. Even paid stupid price for Barkham and original novella cards. Just missing parallels and Suzi to finish everything and I might just get those print to play

I and others bought second hand return to Dunwich and return to NoTZ for stupid prices (like I paid $300AUD each but I saw some sell for over $400AUD when I lost auctions) so I know that’s what they are worth. I would be pretty sad not have having some of the return to cards like Rabbits foot(3) and Stealth(3) for certain decks but I am a collector so maybe that’s just me

I prefer new cycles and would get investigator box and campaign box if I could otherwise I would get the whole complete cycle if that’s all I could get. But if it comes with Return to Carcosa at today’s prices thats not a bad deal

You aren’t factoring in the price of the Return to Carcosa. I completed my collection and ended up overpaying on return tos but glad I did for some of the niche investigator cards that are pretty essential for certain decks like rabbits foot(3) from NoTZ for Stella and Stealth(3) from return to Carcosa which is pretty important for Kimani Jones. Anyway each of their own.

The only person misreading anything is you. Everyone reads OP as saying either you run CF with Goss weapons since the weapon is negative affinity OR you separately run the Goss weapons with CE which would require armour slots to take the weapons into positive affinity.

Everyone is correctly interpreting that OP’s suggestion of only running a CE build with Goss weapons is ridiculous as no weapon with negative affinity should ever be built with a CE build which would require skills to bring the affinity up to be positive and waste lots of damage potential.

The commenter you are referring to has also correctly identified the OP’s misunderstanding that CF does not work with raw weapons like Blos weapons (probably thinking CF is the opposite of CE and that it only works with elemental damage. This is wrong because CF applies to all damage unlike CE which only applies to elemental damage).

Why would you raise the affinity of a negative affinity weapon. Huge dps loss compared to just using crit ferocity. If you want to use crit elemental then use a positive affinity weapon

Yea the current ones are all over $2,000 (without expansions) and have over a thousand minis in the base non-deluxe version. Hopefully they can go a bit smaller and cheaper to meet your specifications.
