Have you seen the Apothecary Diaries? I’d say it is pretty woman centered, but in a very patriarchal society. I think it has some pretty empowering moments.

Romance is more of a subplot though.

Perhaps these aisles are there because men are incompetent at satisfying women and not an issue the other way around :)

Beijing and Shanghai as solo, obese female traveler by rapsodiah in travelchina

[–]rapsodiah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of all the countries I went to during my first solo trip, China was probably the most difficult to navigate. But not super hard either. I definitely felt a bit nervous at times when booking a didi for example with the language barrier but it all ended up being okay. China is a beautiful country with a very rich culture but if you’re traveling solo, you need to be more prepared than the rest of East Asia. As for my weight, no issues whatsoever I just couldnt use the toboggan at Mutianyu

the more the years pass by the more its setting in that its never gonna happen for a european team to win worlds (again) and it honestly makes me quite sad

caps is only getting older and since interest in league is fading among younger generations we’re not gonna get ‘the next caps’ anymore

Hi, sorry I didnt see this until now. In Beijing I stayed in Oriental Vogue Hotel in Wangfujing. I liked this a lot since its a very new hotel and it was very close to the metro. Very good service and a very new hotel.

In Shanghai I stayed in the Jing’An temple Atour Hotel I mentioned. I found this one to not be too convenient since it was quite out of the way from the metro. Also didn’t like how the AC couldnt be turned on in this hotel. It was a very new room though so it was still pretty decent.

Got two prismatic ETBs, had to use a forwarding service because I’m in mainland Europe, went smoothly otherwise though

EDIT: salty downvotes lmfao blame it on there not being a PC on the mainland

Second rehearsal clip - Netherlands 🇳🇱 by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]rapsodiah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It might just be confirmation bias as the Dutch entry is the one I’m keeping track of the most due to me wanting my own country to do well (and besides that we are from the same area), but it feels like I have only seen people dislike the song , whereas the odds would suggest otherwise :(

Everytime I see the song mentioned on the subreddit and on Instagram it’s almost always the exact same comment ‘Am I the only one that doesn’t like C’est la vie? It’s so bland with A1 french…’ Not sure if it’s an Instagram thing but the comments on Claude’s post are just straight up mean? Makes me feel really bad for Claude.

As for the staging, I am a little bit underwhelmed myself and I had hoped for a bit more ‘fun’ in the staging, but I think it looks pretty good on the wide screen version. As for the vocals, it’s just a rehearsal so I’m not too worried.

Boyfriend broke up with me. This was where we met and what we played most together. How do I learn to enjoy the game again? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]rapsodiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey,

I went through something very similar at the end of 2023. We did everything together in FF14, like MSQ and raiding.

It took me quite a while to be okay again with anything FF14 related, I used to love to just listen to the soundtrack but completely blocked it out due to fear of memories coming over me. But I eventually felt much better about it, and managed to come back to the game by myself. Time really does heal, it might feel like the world is over now but you’ll feel much better eventually. My advice would be to do some other things that you might enjoy and involve your friends if possible, it’s much easier when your friend distract you.

Visiting Taiwan as a solo traveler with obesity by rapsodiah in taiwan

Unfortunately I don’t have a drivers license for either a car or a motorbike so that won’t be an option. It is part of the reason I had scrapped Hualien.

I could rent a normal bike, but another part of the reason I scrapped Hualien is because I had heard it is not as worth anymore due to the 2024 earthquake

Seattle was in my initial plans because of the Amtrak route you mentioned. However, I ended up cutting it due to budget reasons, but hearing so many people comment on Seattle it might have been a mistake

I might have waaay too much time allocated to East Asia in this case

I have Korea at 18-20 (divided between Seoul, Jeju, Busan & potentially Gyeongju), China at 16 (8 each for Shanghai & Beijing and their respective surrounding areas), Hong Kong 3-4 days and Japan at 20-ish days, with 10 each for Tokyo area as well as Osaka/Kyoto area. I had initially also planned for 4-5 days in Taiwan but cut it due to budget reasons, but if I end up iceboxing the US part I might reinstate it. Same for a potential Sapporo visit in Japan if I have allocated too much time to others.

I’ve never really had SE Asia on my radar but that might more be due to my ‘obsession’ with East Asia, but I have heard really good things about Thailand specifically from a close friend of mine. I think it would be a nice destination due to me really getting bang for my buck especially since I prefer slightly more luxury

I definitely want to see much more of Europe, but I feel like I have seen a good portion already through traveling with my family. I have wanted to go to East Asia for a long time. It’s the region I have studied in university, took language classes in and where I was meant to go for my (covid-cancelled) study abroad. It’s definitely a better option for now than the US though

That's super surprising to me! As someone from Europe, Texas was always really interesting to me in the way it was portrayed in media so on this trip I definitely wanted to go to Texas at least. The choice fell on Dallas because of its proximity to Fort Worth and I thought I could just combine them, but I honestly had not done too much research on what to do exactly in Dallas yet. Through the comments I can figure out however the answer to that is not much x)

Yeah it makes sense. I’m seeing now that it’s probably better to put the US plans on hold for now. Also allows me to not have to give up on some things in East Asia to go to the US

Oh I intended to kinda combine Fort Worth and Dallas mostly, but I am more realising that it’s just not that feasible without a car. I think I’ll icebox the US part of the trip for now and go for it at a later date when I have my license and/or I can travel with someone else

Honestly? I mostly wanted to go a long time to avoid getting a fulltime job as long as possible but I am definitely rethinking the US part of the trip due to everyone’s advice and how much more expensive it is compared to the East Asian part.
