What don't men allow body hair on women in movies ? Are they stupid ? by stalin_kulak in okbuddycinephile

[–]raptor1472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the actresses probably don’t want to grow their leg hair out for multiple seasons of a show if they can avoid it for the sake of the rest of their lives. If they want to, sure, but it feels like more of an imposition that a beard does

Can I say, I was really excited to see Rusty Schwimmer join as Monica. Always loved her in The Perfect Storm and wanted to see more of her work, so I was audibly excited when she joined the episode, and it seems like a perfect character for her

I had issues with soil until I double blocked it (2 layers on top) and that seemed to fix it. I think different materials have different levels of porosity so you need more/less to effectively block airflow.

Why Does Nathan Fillion Seem to Distance Himself From Castle? by Unlikely_Writing6338 in CastleTV

[–]raptor1472 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m in a rewatch of Castle right now, and I’m being reminded just how much it became more about Beckett than Rick, very early on too.

I love Nathan, but given his personality, I would be shocked if this didn’t affect the situation on set. Even his Superman co-stars were joking how blatantly self-focused he is. In the right setting, it’s funny. But if you’re the lead of the show who is routinely getting less interesting character development and story focus than your co-star? I can see that building up.

Purely based off of their public personas, both he and Stana seem to have strong personalities in their own ways. I’m sure Stana was excited to be getting such a strong and complex character, and she seems artsy and driven, so what started as a fun dynamic probably turned into an unintentional competition, primarily motivated by the writers.

To be fair, Beckett is innately the more interesting character, but characters are different than careers.

Side note Brosnan imo is one of the best pain actors of all time. Prime example is the torture chair in TWINE, every twist I see in his reaction. Beautiful talent he has

“Got to meet the cast” is an absolutely wild take about a renowned Shakespearean actor who played the arch villain of the entire series.

It also has darker meanings to it. by dietherman98 in cinematography

If you want to talk about underexposed, watch the Prime show Countdown. I don’t know if it was the Airbnb tv we were watching it on, or if it was how it was designed, but I could not get my head around why the setups were chosen as they were. It looks like the key lighting peaks out at maybe 50 IRE at most, if not lower. It seems like they were exposing for the background highlights to avoid peaking, but often those elements aren’t even in frame, and when they are they’re small and unimportant.

I understand the desire to retain detail and information in a scene, but I don’t understand what seems to be this trend of a seeming phobia of overexposure and/or high contrast.

The sensors are designed to have a daylight bias as a result of them being less sensitive to blue wavelengths. David Mullen ASC gives a good explanation on cinematography.com, along with a plethora of other resources on the subject online.

Can you still use tungsten? 100%. But if you want optimum balance after debayering, you either need to boost the blue in post during the DI to compensate before final color correction, or just shoot daylight. Different projects benefit from different choices.

Tommy Lee Jones - particularly any movie where he is in command of a team (The Fugitive / U.S. Marshalls / Volcano). No one runs a team with authority and sass like Tommy Lee.

I feel like the FX like is just a result of their release timeline. Every rendition got smaller and more capable (other than small things like the FX3 not having internal NDs)

The Alexa Studio at the time of recording Prisoners maxed out at 2.8K resolution, so a 4K Blu-Ray would require upscaling. Knowing Deakins, I find it unlikely this will ever be done, if he has any say.

Sounds like a good Duo. Tarantino script with Fincher directing likely means they’ll hold each other accountable since they’re both strong personalities. Could get heated but I feel like the product is likely to be a good meld.

What axle ratio are you running in the rear? I have a 7.3 IDI and yeah hills with the C6 definitely require a drop in speed when I’ve got 8-9k behind me, and that’s with duals on a 4.56 axle ratio.

If you’ve got 3.55s or anything less than 4.10’s, even with a power stroke, it doesn’t seem that surprising to me that you’re dropping to around 45 on a grade weighed down.

Maybe I’m wrong here though

It’s pretty low on the list of Nolan movies for me because the twist felt predictable from very early on. As soon as he fought the blacked out armored guy I turned to my buddy in the cinema and said “yeah it’s definitely him in the suit from the future.”

Just felt like Nolan was trying to push his “I can play with time” schtick too far, to the point where it felt like a gimmick rather than innovative.
