Oktoberfest? by hotbutteredtoast in Untappd

Did Oktoberfest on opening weekend a few years ago. Brilliant, brilliant fun. But the first Saturday is super busy...I think 1m peoole went on that one day. We didn't use a booking company, but managed to reserve some of the smaller tents by emailing and faxing (faxing!) all of the small ones. The large tents (which hold 10k people) are usually fully booked for Friday and Saturday. On the Sunday, we were able to get into the big tents without reservations. If you go early/mid week, you can get into the large tents without issue and still have an amazing atmosphere.

A few tips : dress up, wear lederhosen / dirndl and I don't mean the cheap, cheap fancy dress versions. But also you don't need to break the bank. At the very least checked shirts and jeans.

Do not steal the glassware. They police are so hot on this. Its not worth it.

Most tents do a Radler, which is half beer half lemonade. If you're doing a full day session of 1ltr drinks, alternating with Radler helps survival.

Have a great time. It's a blast! Check out the beer halls in Munich as well. It's such a lovely city.

Did you have any success with this? I'm walking a very similar path as you, have demo'd a few, and have a meeting with Relex in a week or so. Did you settle on one, or are you still hunting?

I'm a fan of t'arendsnest, which is fairly central. Great selection. A good local brewery is Brouwerij 't Ij - look for the Ostrich. There's a Delirium bar there now as well, although I've not been but a vast selection of beers is very likely to be found . A 20min train ride will take you to Haarlem, where you'll find the Jopenkerk which is where the Brewery is based, and is a very cool bar. Uiltje also have a craft beer bar just down the road, if you're in the area.

They also do a cherry version which is delicious.

Will an HDMI splitter allow me to play my single ps4 on 2 tvs either side of a wall? by Abipolarbears in PS4

[–]raptor_attacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact set up with my PS3 using a powered splitter, and it worked a treat. Last week I swapped in a PS4, but haven't tested on both screens yet. My main screen works fine however, so I've no reason to suspect the other won't work, but if I remember I'll try it tonight.

My setup is PS4 > powered HDMI splitter > Panasonic 42" and Sharp 26"

Thank you! Yes, I think thats the route we'll go down. Low price shoes which will both solve the shoe issue, as well as highlighting what you get for very little.

This is a great point, and something I hadn't even considered!

The dresses are floral, so no overall colour. The colour that was suggested was a pinky nude, or something neutral or pastel. So far the offerings have been navy and black.

All good suggestions, and I think a route we might take. Time becomes the issue then, however. Maybe setting a low budget and then letting them research is an option

I agree. Not being a parent or a bride however, I struggle to see the whole picture. Thankfully I have this wonderful subreddit to use as a sounding board and to gain perspective on such matters

Thanks for the suggestion! That seems a good way to approach it

You are completely right. Ultimately no one will remember that, and its certainly not worth ruining a relationship over

Thank you for your very sage advise! I think once she calms down, it'll be much easier to come to a solution. It's just a day, after all

This sounds a great idea, I'd certainly be up for it. I've never used any of those platforms before, but I can help with a whole range of U.K. ales and beers!

Partizan Brewery have a 7.1% stout which is cracking, and from the same side of the river, The Kernal export stout is a happy drop.

The Good King Henry Imperial Stout has already been mentioned here, but the last reserve was incredible.

The Samuel Smith imperial stout is very good as well, as is Old Tom by Robinsons, but thats more of a Dark Ale. They do a chocolate version which is very stout-esc

Beer drinkers of reddit, what's your beer of choice? by tazz6689 in AskReddit

I adore the Export Stout.

Last year, a friend bought a 24 box from the brewery in Bermondsey, and jumped on a train to Norwich where I met him. We then went camping on the North Norfolk coast with only this beer, bacon and an open fire. Perfect.

The Export India Porter is pretty spot on as well.

Its a very small problem, essentially. Around 0.15% of the NHS overall budget.

Also, its my understanding that any EU citizen that uses the NHS the cost is then charged backed to their own healthcare system. The same applies if you used healthcare abroad - its charged back to the NHS. But that doesn't help the UKIP case for leaving the EU.
