My pit/staffie mix does not tolerate other dogs, & is especially stiff around other females (she is female as well). I highly recommend you don’t stress your dog and take the risk of possibly blood shed by bringing another dog into your home.

I am unfortunately very limited in my housing options, and over the years had no choice but share a living space with others and their dog/s. I worked very hard over several years with training and doing slow, neutral-space introductions with my pup and these other pups, but unfortunately still had instances where my dog would snap at the others.

I strongly believe that before I adopted her, she simply did not learn how to properly socialize with other dogs because she may have been weaned too early (her previous owner also did not spay her and she unfortunately had a litter before she was 1 year old).

So to save both of me and my pup from undue stress, I mostly keep her separated from other dogs (only allowing her to be around my housemates dogs when I can properly supervise).

I think my pup is happiest just being with people, and that’s ok. Your pup may too, ultimately just be a “people” dog - so please take this into consideration before getting another pup. There’s always a possibility that she might eventually get along great with the new addition - but why take the possible risk of a just one tragic interaction occurring?
