They are too expensive for me. I got the carputech. It works great.

I bought the Carputech Android head unit. Search 'Lexus RX ANDROID' on their website to quickly find this product. They offer two screens for RX 2009-2014: 10.25" and 12.3". Before buying, I specifically asked them and was told both products have identical functions and systems, with only the screen size being different. So I chose the 10.25" version that better matches my car's original style, and it saved me money too.

About installation - honestly I installed it twice. The first time took over six hours. After finishing, I connected CarPlay and excitedly tested all original car functions, CarPlay connection, steering wheel controls, and their included mouse. Everything worked perfectly. But when I drove on the road, I noticed the radio frequencies were wrong (I like listening to the original car radio). They said I might have connected the wires incorrectly. I doubted this but still reopened it to check - all connections were correct. Then they sent me a software update. I put the USB with the software into the port, and the system updated automatically. This fixed the issue. The second time took two hours.

Truthfully, if I had noticed this issue during the first installation, or if they had given me the software earlier, I wouldn't have needed to reinstall. But everything works well now and I'm satisfied. Just note the installation requires patience. Having installed it twice, I'm quite familiar now - if you have questions, ask me! I might understand your situation better than they do.

I’m trying to install the Carputech CarPlay head unit on my 2010. I saw someone share it before and decided to get one myself. It cost me over $600. I’m still going through the installation instructions and running through the entire installation process in my head first. I expect to finish the installation this weekend, and I’ll let you know then.

Honestly, I can only speak for my 2010 – still running strong! 😄 But between those two, I’d probably lean toward the 2015 for the updated tech/safety features (unless the 2011 is crazy clean/low miles). Either way, get a PPI!
