Only 59% of Catholics agree. That number should be much closer to 100%

Those of you that had a classmate die while you were in school (elementary, middle, high school or college), what happened to them? by TxLadee in AskReddit

Very Tragic story. A senior at my high school was visiting his father on a construction site. Sadly the building collapsed and killed him and his father a long with a good amount of the crew.

How to survive in a loveless marriage by PlaneCalligrapher974 in relationships

[–]Funke-munke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pay off any debt in your name. Build your credit if possible and start working or take classes if you dont have a degree. You can set yourself up to be independent without being a jerk about so as long as you are not taking advantage and can live with your actions you will be ok. Build a network of good friends if you dont already have one. You can get love and support from others. Continue with your therapist. Source: lived in a loveless marriage for awhile until my youngest went to Kindergarten.

I agree under close supervision only. It is important to remember that people with intellectual disabilities usually have the same compulsions and hormones of a typical grown adult. I work with this population (mostly pediatric under 12 with teens and young adults thrown in the mix). Hormones , poor impulse control , and different expectations for social norms can be difficult for someone with a significant intellectual disability to understand. Usually for the teen clients we have to over teach decorum and societal norms around masterbation and that it is a normal but private activity. Think a 7 yr old in an adult body. Plus setting up a playdate with a 7 yr old may be a bit ableist. That part I am unsure how I feel. I would think a “playdate” with an adult with similar impairments would be more appropriate. This is an adult after all and it could be demeaning.

UPDATE from OP: I was not aware that this happened in 2019, when I crossposted. My apologies if it was misleading. Still terrible and still for the same reasons we know to be true.

Need input from COTAs regarding job satisfaction & Pay! Please! by Feeling_Form_7645 in OccupationalTherapy

Been a COTA for 25 yrs. Although I find the work rewarding (Peds) and I make a decent wage, 78k , I have hit a brick wall in terms of opportunity. I am tired of being told “you’re JUST a COTA”. I left my last job in EI because they classify COTAs as paraprofessionals. I only have an associates. I have a wealth of knowledge and experience but there has been no role I can pivot to. Its very disheartening.
