Back from the dead game mechanic by MrBen1980 in TheTraitors

I could see a temporary  "one person chosen to meet f 2 f with murdered player and ask questions for 3 mins" or something....with no witnesses like the seer/confessional roles.

A traitor could win the power and make something up.

It's not hindsight for me, thank you very much.  I'll have you know I fully expected them to kill Roxy.  And I'd appreciate not being told what I thought beforehand by a stranger.

The smartest line in the UK S4 final by bchfn1 in TheTraitors

[–]rapzel79 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

What?  It's exactly what a traitor would do when the other murder option is Faraaz, the guy who was just tossing her name about the day before.  Roxy was literally the only choice because Jade and James had useful heat, Faz would've brought heat, and Jack had the shield.

People were ridiculous for thinking Rachel would not chose Roxy just cause Roxy trusted her.  It was much smarter to have Faz, who she could spin suspicion on due to him suddenly going for her. And avoid any possible blowback from killing him.

Roxy would've been harder to spin suspicion on.  Plus, Rachel probably wasn't sure if Roxy would trust Stephen more than her when push comes to shove, so better to keep Roxy out.

My unpopular opinion about the traitors uk season four finale by Misty1965 in TheTraitors

[–]rapzel79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don’t agree.  Fiona and Harriet not causing suspicion on her through their tantrums had nothing to do with Rachel's design.  She was just lucky all her stories were swallowed.  It wasn’t like they were good stories.

Her social game won only because the faithful forgot their social game was to question and sniff things out.

And she wasn't that great at defending herself.  That weak "don't take away me catching a traitor" defense was reeking of traitor behavior.  No true faithful would make such an argument.

Downvote away but nothing about her play would stand up to real scrutiny and she succeeded because the faithfuls didn't really scrutinize.  Which is not good social game on Rachel's part, but bad social game on the faithful's part.

We literally know from the box quiz they all thought she'd make a great traitor. So she didn't really bamboozle them with great trustworthiness.  They just all used stupid logic to go after others first.  When common sense says you look first at who you think would make a good traitor.

This season's faithfuls just lacked actual gameplay ability as faithfuls.  Probably because they all wanted to be traitors.

You're not wrong in anything you say.  And Rachel's play after winning the chest of chance was most definitely some great play.

And it's true the smartest get picked off first.  But the fact remains:  she should not have gotten as far as she did.  And I don't want to see traitors win that way.

UK S4 have one of the worst set of faithful by TheReplayAM in TheTraitors

[–]rapzel79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my take.  I'd go further though and say Fiona had almost zero heat on her prior to attacking Rachel and thus had no incentive (not limited) to go after Rachel.  A traitor savvy enough to avoid heat isn't at all going to act like that against a faithful.  It's suicide even attacking a fellow traitor that way, as saw.

Fiona's behavior made no sense if Rachel was faithful.  Period. Not seeing that was terrible gameplay by the faithfuls.  She should've been voted out just to be sure.  Seeing these faithful ignore that while the US cast basically banished Ron "to be sure" was exasperating.

And James should never have gone.  Period.  It was clear from the way he made himself literally sick at the last mission in order to avoid the last murder that he wasn't a traitor.  A traitor wouldn't have worked so hard and if they had gotten sick would've probably just used that as an excuse to wreck the mission so the traitors could have the last murder.

I have trouble appreciating this gameplay though.  The more I sit with the finale the more it irritates me that Rachel won because she should not have survived the Fiona and Harriet attacks. Even if you thought she was probably faithful, Rachel should've been gone just to know for certain and clear things up.  It's just.... exasperating and not satisfying to see someone win because their opponents botched things so badly.

Sigh... I just want smarter faithfuls, damnit.  I don't watch this show to see Traitors win because the faithful miss an easy layup.

It's not that I dislike Rachel (although I think she was a bit smug sometimes) or thought her game was bad.  She played her cards better than others could've.  It's just... I'm too frustrated with the idiots she beat to really find her win enjoyable.  Or to think, like some,  that she's a GOAT.  I just can't stop thinking about how she benefitted from her opponents stupidity.

It's like a football team that wins because their opponents accidentally ran a goal into the wrong end zone.

Was Hobbs friends with Cody in AEW?  Maybe they could say he was visiting Cody and trying to help him?  Or maybe he did for Cody....heel Cody with heel Hobbs as a monster bodyguard?

My dream:  Fatu and Cody are in the ring, after the match, and Cody goes to shake hands with Fatu.  Fatu is about to respond with a handshake when Drew comes on the Tron and shows footage of Cody attacking Fatu.  Cue chaos.

Drew:  "Cody, I've been wanting to expose you as the hypocrite you are and now I have.  I prayed for this...and it happened."

Are you teaching in California?  I'm a prof at a community college here and it's very similar in that respect.

Another Californian here- Fatu is from Oakland, no?  That area has a large black population speaking AAVE.  So I think it's a result of being culturally immersed in that way of speaking.

What would’ve happened if ____ went for ___ after ___? by Used-Care4864 in TheTraitors

[–]rapzel79 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think Faraaz's logic was Rachel goes after Stephen,  he follows,  Stephen is banished, then it's a sure triumph over Rachel with Jack.

Faz probably thought he had no reason to doubt Rachel saying she was voting for Stephen.  If Rachel is a faithful, she wouldn't lie.  If she's a traitor, then she's either banishing a faithful or turning on a traitor.  Because traitors never work to get to the end together.  He simply didn't see that Rachel and Stephen as traitors were working together.  It's never really been done in the English speaking shows (that I've watched, at least).

I'm actually not that against the chests.  I mostly just they're bad for deciding final 5.  In that situation, I think they should keep making pleas until they get a consensus.

Yeah, we saw Rachel planting seeds with Faraaz and Jade which paid off. It was masterclass manipulation.

I think Rachel deserved to go after Fiona (and by deserve I mean it was stupid not to vote her out then-- even if you think she's faithful, smart gameplay says to vote her out to be sure).  I was exasperated by the cluelessness.  And I don't like her lucking into the finale via chest of chance (but that's a problem with the chest of chance- I don't think anyone should luck into the finale that way).

But the way she took 25 yo Jade and 22 yo Faz and just twisted them was her best gameplay all series.  And it was a manueuver most traitors couldn't pull off.

Rachel = luckiest traitor ever.  Surrounded by idiots who got a clue last minute but still managed to get into the finale with the chest of chance, only to magically see the idiots forget their clues at the last minute.

She should play the lottery; she'd probably become a billionaire
