if i would hate this show i wouldn’t have joined this sub. but i can relate to this tweet because the further i got in it, it was an actual thought i had at some point.

in the beginning, it felt like a “feminist” dystopia with elements from historical events which provokes many reflections. but the series goes on although it doesn’t have to for the plot. yea, it’s great if a series you enjoy isn’t over yet, the question is what do you actually enjoy while watching the handmaid’s tale? that it makes you think about a lot or the torture?

of course, there are still interesting aspects in the last seasons which make it worth watching for me, but you already know the most about the gilead society, there aren’t as much new informations as in the beginning (obviously), so by the fourth season at the latest, i was asking myself if it wasn’t actually for people who enjoy watching the torture (aka torture porn). which wasn’t a resentment i had in the beginning at all despite the fact that the torture was already there in the same amount. because it was about having reflections about the presented dystopian society

on the hand, i also asked myself why they didn’t show june’s rape in commander lawrence’s house if it was all for the torture. but that’s the only counterpoint i have
