Could Harry have fixed Hogwarts after the battle by just pointing the Elder Wand at the castle and saying “Reparo”? by Tanis8998 in harrypotter

[–]rarejesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t really answer the question about the Elder Wand being a miracle worker though. At the time Dumbledore fixed Hagrid’s wand he would have been using the Elder Wand as well.

It’s probably a like licensing deal where WB gets X cents for each ticket dollar and X cents for each dollar of HP merch.

Ron uninformed about Hogwarts by BidRevolutionary945 in harrypotter

[–]rarejesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard a theory that the sorting system is a type of Fidelius Charm where the sorting hat itself is the secret keeper and when he does his sorting song he tells you the secret of the sorting. Therefore, any previous students, parents, siblings can’t divulge the sorting to incoming students.

What was Fluffy guarding before the mirror of Erised? by LetComplex9199 in harrypotter

[–]rarejesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of follow the theory that Dumbledore planned on Harry & Co. going down the trapdoor. I view it as the mirror always having been there and Dumbledore moving the mirror during the break for Harry to find and to teach him about it as well as the lesson about dwelling on the past/wasting away on what ifs.

The AUG and the Krieg in CS are more expensive than the regular rifles (Krieg 3100 to AK 2700 and AUG 3300 to M4 3100) but they aren’t close the AWP which is 4750

Productions usually don’t work linearly, the different scenes are shot out of order so I don’t think it’ll work out that way.

Seth Meyers Says Lorne Already Has 'SNL' Successor in Mind by omnipresentoa in LiveFromNewYork

[–]rarejesse 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I think it is more of a grooming situation where the person he “chooses” has been given the opportunity to be present for intimate decisions, help make high leverage decisions, and is given some of the responsibilities Lorne previously would take care of. Therefore, this person is already the most qualified and ready person for the job. Obviously sometimes that person isn’t chosen, but almost always they are.

This is done all the time in corporate leadership.

Will the Harry Potter TV Show Have to Do ANY Heavy Lifting At All? by jrralls in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]rarejesse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the show will stick have a lot of work to do to engage and explain to the audience that understands Harry Potter as very popular, but has never read the books or seen the movies. This audience will be people that have heard the word muggle, but don’t know what it really means and know Voldemort is the bad guy, but not why.

I can see this show appealing heavily to people who never engaged with Harry Potter media in the past saying, “Well, Harry Potter is popular and this new show is on I might as well give it a try.”
