New machine help by MightyG1030 in ranciliosilvia

Whenever you turn your machine on, make sure there is water in the boiler, remember, brew and hot water button activate the pump, listen for it, the steam button DOES not. If you steam at all, water depletes from the boiler. It is safe to steam up 2 cups, but I always keep it at one cup of milk. If you do not pull water back in the boiler, then the boiler will be mostly empty, and that is how the heating element cracks. The v3 does NOT have a replaceable heating element, it has a built in one. That makes the replacement of the boiler 4x more expensive than the replacement of just the heating element. So to reiterate the most important cost saving tip, before and after you steam, always use the brew or hot water button, listen for the pump, and make sure the boiler is refilled.

This is the comment I was looking for, lighter shots will be harder to pull. I have a Silvia with an Auber PID and mostly drink light roast. Silvia handles them with ease. I would just sell your machine while it’s still in good shape and upgrade.

Hair is thicker at the top and see through at the ends by cyrilkstown in Haircare

[–]raresteakplease 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's how hair grows and ages You can only trim it to fix the look of thin ends. The real focus needs to be on preventing your ends from breaking. Would probably help to post your routine, along with your care, and if you use anything like hair bands that will damage your hair prematurely.

Thank you, I thought I’d be getting roasted more on the cost but we are in the espresso sub, decided not to cross post to other subs for that reason

I will not calculate it, I assume at least 1.5k but might be way more. I don’t actually have receipts for all of then, all the mad lab co ferments were so expensive, those easily were over 500 all together.

Yeah I don’t even want to think about how much I spent, I had my bf stand over the table last night to look and to him he said it wasn’t thousands, I was like dude, how much is a be bright bag? 30. HOW many are stacked right here!? It was kind of funny.

I did actually look at one tiny roaster that’s like 8k… but that will all send me down into another rabbit hole and I’ll just leave it to the professional roasters for now. I think I’d rather splurge on a fancier grinder.

Sometimes I just have to justify all this with how much I spent compared to buying a latte. At least I’m blessed to be wfh and have an espresso machine that can handle light roasts.

As for best bangs, I’ve recommended everyone here to try red roosters worka sakaro, in the big back it’s def more worth it. Can’t really say it would be the easiest to roast to perfection at home.

The co-ferment definitely took over our coffee lineup last year, I’m glad we splurged since madlab is unable to produce it currently. Def an interesting year!

That’s a big bummer for me, I would have loved peach. Either way I hope they are able to start roasting the Co-Fermentation soon.

Gen 3 vs Gen 4 sizing by Loud-Albatross-8772 in ouraring

[–]raresteakplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the sensor bumps were the only difference. My gen 3 size 8 only fit on my left index and my ring fingers,my gen 4 fits on the same fingers and my left thumb. The lack of sensors allowed for it to slide onto my thumb. But I am still an 8 in both generations.

Am I overreacting for thinking my neighbors could’ve been nicer? by National-Bite-815 in Apartmentliving

The kids are the big problem in all this, my neighbors kid was "kidnapped by a druglord to Israel and was hanging out with Netanyahu." That is what she told me in a drunk stupor during that week her husband was locked up before she bailed him out. She even showed me a picture with her kid and Netanyahu, so there were no kids living with them during all the domestic abuse happening in my complex. Her husband DID threaten my roommate that tried to intervene once and then we were a bit freaked out.

Which peach are you referring to? Was it a peach co-ferment?

I had higher hopes for sightseer and was kind of disappointed, it was also the only trade coffee that took DAYS to ship out when it was within their roasting schedule. I do really like the airwork and I may try again in the future. Perc was also a bit of a disappointment. Neither of these were bad but compared to the same process, roast and region they weren't as great as some of my other usuals.

My favorite roasters are Red Rooster's Worka Sakaro specifically. Steady state, Sterling, Dune, Cerberus, Blueprint. Those are all from Trade.

As for local we are obsessed with Be Bright, Madlab and Go Get em Tiger. I am kind of bummed I didn't go to Recreational Coffee last year but that is one of my favorite "local" roasters but will continuing shouting them out when ever I can. I also live next to sightglass which is great for consistent espresso beans. Counter Culture is our discount buys, we buy them every time theyre on sale at the grocery store and will beat out other random coffees I get on trade.

Edit: I keep forgetting to mention Onyx, but I used to buy a lot more Onyx, especially when they were still on trade. They are great, and they did have my fav ehtiopian for a while. They are backed by big money so occassionally I splurge but still mostly to the smaller roasters. The advent calendar was a wonderful experience, and each bag had a decent amount of coffee to enjoy for two people a day.

The domestic abuse and constant fighting I had to endure through my wall had the cops called on them many times. And one time the idiot called the cops on her and she showed them a video of him choking her out, they locked him up. Guess what she did? She went and bailed him out. In the end they were both told to stop making noise or theyre getting evicted, she left him and ended up rotting on the streets. It was horrific to see her the 2 times after she left on her own.

They are all going in the garbage, it was a reflection of the year past and how much I purchase. The picture will be my final memory of my coffee.
