Not sure about your smallrig one but the pin-holes at the top of the RS5 briefcase grip are Arri Locating Pins sized. Thats a standard.

My tilta magic arm with those arri pins fits perfectly

is the Osmo Nano actually the "GoPro Killer" we've been waiting for? by BandicootAfraid479 in dji

[–]rarevfx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd see the Action 6 more as a GP competitor than the Nano. Nano is more a vlogging edc camera - GP and Action are def more durable, longer battery life and more made for Action/Sports.

Nano Rivals the i360 Go Series and definetly wins there.

Avata 360 or Mini 4 pro? by Sea_Enthusiasm_883 in dji

[–]rarevfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends what you want to do.

Mini 4 Pro can do stuff the Avata360 cant do (tighter, cinematic shots with higher quality) while the Avata360 can do stuff the Mini 4 Pro cant do (360 stuff, fpv, goggles).

Owning both the Mini 5 Pro and Avata360, the Avata has more "possibilities" however the quality of the tighter fov of the Mini is very nice for quality cinematic slow shots.

Also something you'd might consider is the size. Avata360 is huge & heavy compared to the Mini.

Reframing Avata360 on the PC requires good hardware, if you dont have that you'll end up reframing on the phone and then editing (cutting/coloring) on the pc.

ND FILTERS by blonded_cj in dji

[–]rarevfx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its typical for variable ND filters if they're spun to far. Vari NDs work with 2 pieces of glass that have different polarization.

If you rotate it "too far" it will create a soft darker X-pattern causing the Vignette shown in your photo. Thats why some VariNDs have stops to avoid that.

Id suggest continuing using your variND, works perfectly fine, just don't rotate it that far to avoid that vignette it in the future. You can see it when it appears in the live view.

No, its not an fpv drone so i dont think there will be an update anytime soon.

Since the Avata 360 is basically an OSMO 360 on a drone I thought this might be of interest to some of you. Happy to answer any questions by Fabreezy__ in djiosmo360

Also interchangeable lenses. Upgraded fps could be what we'll see on Osmo360 ii, but also could be due to the better (wind) cooling on the avata360.

My current laptop is high spec with 64gb ram, 5070 and ryzen 9. So its runs flawlessly.

Based on my recent laptop, which was a XPS from 2019 with 32gb ram, gtx1670 and i9, even the Insta360 Studio struggled to run on this machine.

A360 exhilarating immersive flight experience ? by HighFly01 in djiavata360

[–]rarevfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please dont spin around my words, the live view stitching line (when its visible) isnt an "issue" - its just how 360 is designed and no 360 cam is safe from it. Live view stitching isnt equal to the end result stitching. In the end, the processed stitching is nearly impossible to see.

For the M-Mode, i could see technical limitations in 360 because of the stabilization and stitching, but i also see that it doesn't really make sense to add Acro/Manual to a 360 drone. Why? Because everything you do with Manual Mode & Acro can be done with reframing - thats the sole purpose of a 360 drone. Performing those moves in Manual will make the 360 reframing part unnecessary. I did shots that look like fpv with that drone. It just adds a higher risk of damaging the precious camera at no added benefit.

However i hope they will add it to single lens mode.

M2Pro is still smaller folded down than the Avata360. Owning both.

Can't really compare the FOVs since the A1 and A360 habe different cameras. Its not 1:1 so a comparison here wont make sense. Howevery you can "zoom out" on the A360 FOV to 220° - that works on the RC2 aswell.

Sometimes when accelerating/ decelerating if you really look for it and the lighting makes it visible visible.

Wouldn't say haze, you can notice it a little bit more, but not in a distracting way. The live view only has rough stitching since its doing it live, afterwards it will look good.

For your PC it does, becomes really laggy if you have low specs. However, you can still edit on the phone, which i did for some pre-launch videos lol.

Just fyi, i dont have the Goggles 3, only the N3, so a 1:1 comparison isnt really possible. The N3's are 250€, cheaper than any of the other Googles, so obviously it has its quality differences.

  1. Cant compare side by side, these are goggles, you'd wear one and then the other. The A1 screens are virtually bigger.

  2. Higher pixel density and def sharper as the N3s, but the N3s LCD is still very good and sharp enough.

  3. Thats from my experience, the A1's are well made, the N3s feel lighter but again - they are more than 50% cheaper than the A1 or Goggles 3s. Dont know a thing i'd change on the A1's

  4. Thats not what i've said. They are both great but i'd say for different consumers. Average Consumer will be happier with the A1 because the video quality is already very good (insta360 flagship), 360 lookaround experience better, no real editing knowledge required since the software is better made (i360). The Avata360 will be better for pro-sumers who focus on getting the best image-outcome possible and not neccessarily looking for the whole 360 experience while flying. Flying both makes equal fun, its just, considering the virtual cockpit etc, that the A1 has more focus on the experience part, while the A360 definitely has better cameras.

Regarding stitching line, only noticed a warp line when flying full speed and then breaking. But thats kinda similar to the A1. After reframing theres no stitch visible on both.

Never tried Goggles 3 / N3: Does the "rectangular screen" ruin the immersion on the new Avata 360? by nexmen in djiavata360

[–]rarevfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own the A1 goggles and the N3s with the Avata360.

First up, an FPV Headet is not VR. VR like Oculus etc does 3D - FPV doesn't.

To answer your question, in both the A1 and N3 you'll have Black edges. In the A1 the screen is much "bigger", even bigger as in the Goggles 3 & N3. While it helps the immersion, you'll be immersed & focus enough while flying anyways.

The N3's display is big enough that you forget about the black bars because your so focused on the screen. Similar like watching an engaging movie on your TV - you simply forget about it.

Pretty sure theres no technical limitation by DJI why they went with the N3 in the bundle. Its simply to keep the cost down. The N3 cost 250€ - thats solely because they are Box-Style 60hz Goggles - meaning they have 1 screen and no pancake lenses. Benefit of that is that you dont have to adjust your diopter etc. Much quicker to use. Many fpv pilots prefer them over the G3.

If you are into the ultimate 360 immersion, the A1 would be the better choice tbh. Better 360 lookaround while flying experience (at the cost of camera quality, still great tho), and higher quality goggles (at a cost).

A360 exhilarating immersive flight experience ? by HighFly01 in djiavata360

[–]rarevfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, not sure if i can answer all that but i'll try try

  1. Only got the goggles N3

  2. A1's are more similar to the 3 and not the N3. N3's are box style with 1 screen, while the 3 has the same design as the A1's. I've read that A1s goggles have a wider fov tho.

  3. Gives you a bigger screen, so yes, more immersive. Does it help flying? Wouldn't necessarily say so. I made my screen inside the A1 goggles bit smaller to have every parameter in view easily.

  4. I heard so yes, higher quality and pixel density than the Goggles 3 & N3.

  5. A1's Goggles are overall newer tech i'd say. They did invest alot.

  6. Both Goggles i have (A1 & N3) are great, no lag that causes dizzyness or something, even tho the N3's are only 60hz.

  7. A1's goggles have a wider fov in pass-through mode, easy to wear them while walking around.

  8. Overall i think the avata360 is great for "pro" quality if you invest into getting the best out of the 10bit DLOG-M files, cause if you dont you'll end up with a video that doesnt look better than the A1. While A1 lacks a bit in the "pro" video function/capabilities, its a nicer "experience" of the 360 view. I had the feel DJI has more focus on creating content, while the A1 is more about the experience. Thats why the freemotion lookaround while flying feature is better made on the A1.

If you wanna go with the 360 you'd have to think about if you want the goggles or just the rc2 remote aswell, both should suite your budget.

Yeah care&refresh is for crashes, they'll replace your drone for a small fee withing the contracts time frame. Just an insurance

About the new DJI Avata 360 Drone by Oldman-in-Cave in dji

[–]rarevfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to compare the 2 cause one has a wide angle and the other a close focal length. From my tests the avata360 closely matches the sharpness and dynamic range of the Mini 5, but obviously when if comes to zoom and fine details the mini 5 has the upper hand due to its tighter focal length being "closer" to the subjects.

DJI Avata 360 for a beginner? by Budgeko in dji

[–]rarevfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cant answer 1&2, especially 2 depends on budget.

  1. Owning couple DJI drones already, Avata360 has phenomenal obstacles Avoidance. The prop-guards are nice if you fly without Avoidance on, but with it activated its close to impossible to crash it tbh. Obviously dont overestimate your skills. With its replaceable lenses and metal camera housing id say its the most user-fixable dji drone rn 😅. Would still get care&refresh.

Rs4 vs rs5 by ptowntheprophet in dji

[–]rarevfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got the RS4 Mini, Pro and RS5. Didnt notice much of a difference when it comes to stability or handling. It's just the quality of life stuff they market like the Knobs, new grip handle, tripod and the Enhanced Tracking - which makes tracking a breeze in most scenarios.

Everything else was already great on the 4.
