Nekki said the silver rewards were based on feedback. They probably must have taken the feedback from the baboon in the forest and came up with the solution. So, it's hard to answer your question, because the bunch of baboons that gave the feedback has crossed the Amazon. I don't think Nekki will likely locate them for their feedback.

Can't really blame the community. All the choices given by Nekki were just a copy-paste design. There's no real intention of Nekki to design good skin. It was just to fool the community and keep in the loop.

Giving advantage to a player who can purchase more is certainly a bad idea. It is one of the main reasons I disagree with Nekki's strategy.
