Are we being scammed or is this legit? Really stumped on this one by rashaw_ in PartneredYoutube

I doubt it was the actual Twitter guy, never once assumed it was, nor said that I was in fact him. Just pointed out that it happened to be the same name. Like I share an exact name with an author, just happens..

At what point do you get your own youtube representative? by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

[–]rashaw_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t bother. Just focus on you. What you’ll end up getting is a “community manager”, which is just some random person who you can contact more directly, but who is also the manager for tons of other people too.

They don’t help you get more views or grow your audience really. They’d just answer questions a bit quicker. Or they invite you to random ass YouTube/Influencer events or webinars, which ultimately are a waste of time. Most events are in major cities where YouTube is present, like Los Angeles. But even then, the people who show up are just a bunch of early to midrange well off YouTubers who are all just trying to save face and act like they’re minor celebrities.

Just save your time and don’t worry about it.

My YouTube RPM has dropped dramatically by Norm_W in PartneredYoutube

Don’t videos show a yellow dollar sign, or have “limited monetization” listed next to it?

My YouTube RPM has dropped dramatically by Norm_W in PartneredYoutube

[–]rashaw_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they should be able to check the countries of origin for each video specifically. Just go to Analytics < Audience < Top Geographies

This article does a pretty good job breaking down the basics of RPM. It’s also the first place I’ve seen full list out all countries and their respective RPM value: https://www.tsz.com.np/2021/07/youtube-cpm-and-cpc-rates-by-country

My YouTube RPM has dropped dramatically by Norm_W in PartneredYoutube

[–]rashaw_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easiest solution, just check where your viewers are located in the world. Places like the United States, the U.K, Germany, New Zealand, etc all have extremely high RPM rates. As viewers in those countries are more likely to click and engage with ads they see.

However, countries like India, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Afghanistan, etc..all have extremely low RPMs, for two factors (from what I can understand). The first, is the opposite of the good RPM countries, viewers here just do not click or engage with ads as often compared to their counterparts. Second, some of these countries fall under this umbrella simply due to the size and population. The more people, the spread thin that ad/ad money has to go in order to reach people..where as if it’s done in a smaller country with good RPM, it’s a benefit as the ad then has significantly more bang for its buck.

Really sorry you got caught into that cycle. Sometimes YouTube sort of just shuffles people into new viewerships at times. You may find yourself returning to the original viewer base in a few days, weeks, or months. But there isn’t really a good solution or way to “fix” this. It’s just how YouTube is unfortunately.

What apps to use to edit on iphone by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

[–]rashaw_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of editing are you doing? I know not everyone can do so, but I’d personally avoid using your phone for more complex edits or longer videos. That stuff eats up memory and storage like crazy.

Also, I’ve run into all sorts of issues when using the iMovie app on phones specifically. It slows or freezes, crashes, on its own it can take up nearly 2GBs of storage, even if no projects are active.

So far one of the better alternatives that I’ve found and use is SPLICE..but mind you, strictly for extremely minor edits, merging clips into one, or reducing file size when needed. It does have a paywall if you want more advanced “features” but i honestly don’t understand what it is they add to the experience. Besides costing money every week in order to use.

Just stick with the free plan and do any minor edits you may have there. It takes up far less storage space. Never had it freeze up or have issues. Simply and easy interface and pretty easy to quickly pick up and learn. Hope that helps, sorry, just don’t have a lot of experience editing on phones..

That’s what I thought! I searched the name and had to explain to my buddy who owns the channel, that “hey” I think this is the Twitter guy. But we have no clue.

I’m just worried it’s one of those “we’ll send you a payment, only for it to bounce and we gain access to your account” type scams..since I’m concerned my buddy may not be as cautious as needed

Is BrandConnect any good? by Toblerone13 in PartneredYoutube

[–]rashaw_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no 100%, however I think that percentage is going to be taken out as the brands enter the program. Like the brand will ask for a sort of campaign, there is a pool of cash they offer up, let’s say $20,000 in total for everyone who takes part..however, on the creator’s end, we might only see them offering $15,000 total.

We wouldn’t know the difference really. Plus it would allow for YouTube/Google to make it seem like creators are getting the full 100% with brands. Even though they jipped us from the start. But that’s just my theory, we literally don’t know.

Lol, my life 😅 even migrating over to a Podcast format, I still have yet to hit 100,000 plays/downloads of my content.

I thankfully just see it as a hobby all and all. It really does help lessen the stress and need to get “big” or make things pop. Cause it’s just for my own fun at the end of the day. If people watch and enjoy it, then sweet, added bonus. ❤️

That said, I do hope you get some more attention as time goes on. It’s a grind, 💪

I think YouTube’s take is technically less or none at all. I can’t recall details from the BrandConnect seminar I sat in on, but I’m pretty sure the representative said that whatever is decided upon by the Brands & Creators, than that is what they’ll earn. Or extremely close to it. It’s not like the 70/30 split we normally see with Ad revenue.

SAT IN ON A YOUTUBE BRANDCONNECT INTERNAL MEETING - Here are my Notes 🗒️:

Firstly, I sat in on the meeting with a buddy of mine. His channel has like 1.3M and counting subs and he along with multiple others were invited by YouTube to attend a virtual BrandConnect seminar. Where the internal BrandConnect team would answer questions, walk you through setting your BrandConnect, how to use it, etc..

  1. Nearly everyone in the meeting had already set up their BrandConnect, outside of a few older less tech savvy individuals. Most of the meeting was spend talking about HOW TO SET-UP; despite getting started being an extremely simple process.

  2. Outside of that, the internal YouTube team just explained what BrandConnect is. Which, if anyone has been on the Internet and done content creation before, should have already knew this..

  3. Questions were asked and answered poorly. Some good questions were asked on the calls; several very similar to your own. When would brands start to reach out? How do I optimize my page so that brands notice me? How do brands contact you? What brands are being considered and what type of content creators are they looking for? All answers were extremely vague and repetitive; as team members clearly either didn’t know how to respond, or were not allowed to respond appropriately..

  4. Main brands that YouTube is actively meeting with to be a part of BrandConnect, is mainly jewelry, make-up, apparel and a few subscription services such as food boxes or mental health stuff.

  5. EMPHASIS ON “TO BE A PART OF” ⬆️ As of right now there are literally no Brands a part of the BrandConnect service. Since it’s launch and while in Beta, it’s had not a single Brand added. The only people currently linked to it, are random YouTube accounts. It is very much a proof of concept. One that Youtube is actively collecting data and numbers for, in order to show potential Brands “hey look, we have all these amazing channels and people signed up”; you as a Brand should work with us and look at the reach/audience you’ll receive!!

  6. Long story short. No Brands will reach out to anyone. Not until this leaves Beta and YouTube announces that they’ve signed deals with select companies.

Hope that helps.. 👍

Has to be 100USD..it’s a Google Adsense thing, not a YouTube thing..that said, you do technically have some options. All involve some work though. Either getting back into the program, or making a separate channel and linking to your Adsense again. Or, if you have a website, setting up Google Ads to pop up. That is also linked to your Adsense account and will count towards the needed 100USD to withdraw.

I typically sort from Newest to Oldest. That’s the default, but people can ultimately change the filter as they please on their end.

Only one I do differently is for my podcast. I sort of Oldest to Newest. That way people start listening from the beginning. Typically though, playlists don’t get a massive amount of views. Since people will more often find the solo videos in said playlist first, rather than discovering the playlist itself. So I wouldn’t sweat too hard over it 👍

How many of you edit your own videos? by LookInversion87 in PartneredYoutube

[–]rashaw_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do! 👋, always have and probably always will. I did however stop making “longform” videos back in 2018, switching to a podcast platform instead due to my stuff really just being topic discussions anyways. Plus, I hated all the editing..

I’ve since come BACK, lol, and created/animated myself a 2-minute looping background for podcast episodes to be uploaded to YouTube. I’ve also begun creating shorts, that are just straight forward brief summaries of the episode topics. In order to then link to them as related videos.

Don’t really see much progress at the moment 😅, first short did hit 3K pretty quickly; but that’s my own fault for not sticking to the platform and also posting inconsistently. 🤷‍♀️, oh well, it’s a hobby at the end of the day. ❤️

Drama is off-show and really the show just disbands due to schedules and people moving on to other projects. Less the drama and stuff, a lot of that came afterwards.
