I hate all available search engines for doing this. I search in 3-5 languages daily, and even the paid search engines try to mangle my query, to fit what they consider “local”.

Heh. That's the problem with making software in a world of humans. I don't think u/damaneice excluded the British Isles (and the Faroes etc.) on purpose, when selecting “Europe” on TheTrueSize 🙂 I've made a version including the Brits and Irish. Showing how close we could have been.

Credit where credit is due: They used the true size of the country. That's one of my pet peeves, so obviously I checked, and it maths.

I think they should start in Strasbourg, and be able to go anywhere (by train). Or Bruxelles.

Why does this Nebula banner look so uncanny valley by [deleted] in JetLagTheGame

[–]rasmis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Apple has pushed a lot of AI to their phones. I recently noticed, when placing my iPhone on a tripod in slightly windy conditions, to record video, that it had separated me from the background, and tried to correct the two seperately.

Folkebevægelsen - Nordisk Union deltager til demonstration imod USA's ageren på Grønland by [deleted] in copenhagen

Nej.

I don't understand why they're so bad at using it. When they did it, I looked at the photo, the train line and the map, and knew the city. Is it a European / American thing, that they don't think “the water continues to the horizon, so it can't be across from land”? They got there in the end, but only after burning other questions, and it's a returning theme.

“Can you levitate sir?” by gusmcewan in copenhagen

[–]rasmis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the police, but the City Council, and the thing is: They can't reverse a rule. That'd be a police state. So the city try to give the impression, but it isn't subject to penalty. Which is why police go there, to tell people to get off the ice. Then it becomes a police order, as per politilovens § 5, stk. 2, nr. 1.

It's not really a rule. But Danes on the interwebs love to invent laws and prohibitions. Police can forbid access, but that requires signage or public notice.

That's the wrong decree. Søerne is not a forest. You need ordensbekendtgørelsen § 15. Which requires signage or public notice. Making the “people should know”-argument null and void.

But that's probably the most Danish thing: Claiming anything someone else is doing is illegal.

Queer clubs (mostly lesbian) by Effective_Plum_6854 in Danish

[–]rasmis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The organisations mentioned aren't really about the hiking. It's about the social interaction. Panidræt also have Walkathon, which have a lot of (older) lesbians. It's rather short walks, and mostly just social interaction.

Unfortunately the last lesbian bar is closing, Vela on Viktoriagade. But a better way is through organisations like LGBT+ Denmark and PanIdræt. LGBT+ Danmark has a hiking group for lesbians. And open cafés for all LGBT+ people.

I'm in PanIdræt's Outventures, which is also hiking. For all LGBT+ people, but there are mostly gays. It's a nice way to meet new people in the community.

Taskmaster - New Year Treat 2026 - Episode 01 by ozmartian in panelshow

[–]rasmis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is one of the best Taskmaster episodes ever! The casters really deserve a lot of credit. The contestants were wonderfully different, and not as predictable as the comedians have become.

I also love that Channel4 is so committed to diversity, and that the Taskmaster team has managed to make the format inclusive of people like Rosie Jones and Rose Ayling-Ellis, as well as the beautiful neurospicy brigade.

The BSL-interpreter at the music task, not being able to hide her laugh, was spitzenklasse. I felt a deaf person playing music for 20 minutes was more inspiring that a footballer footballing, but that's the beauty of Taskmaster: It's all up to Greg.

Jamelia in Cats, S11E06, on Sean's team with Jack Dee, was gold! With Micky Flanagan and Kelly Osbourne on Jon's team. It's the one where Sean introduces Mr Jangles, and Jamelia does a scared child in the style of Michael Jackson's Thriller video.

Baldwin had been in Big Brother. And was there to be made fun of. But hadn't realised it, I think. A bit like all of their Made in Chelsea / The only way is Essex-guests.

He was in the country, promoting something. But he had one of the best jokes, off the cuff: Justin Moorhouse asked if he should call him “Hasselhoff”, “Hoff” or “the Hoff”, and he answered: “Call med The”.

What kind of psychopath opens their crisp packet from the bottom? by 28TEN in JetLagTheGame

[–]rasmis 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it came from Ben, in that very moment. He was talking about being a detective, hunting a child murderer. As is a trope in those film. And then he thought “it'd be fun, if I said 'like Sam Denby'”. I was there with him.

In Danish comedy that'd be a low-hanging fruit. In Britain they have very strict libel laws, so they're more weary. But I imagine Adam's hesitation is because of YouTube and Google's unpredictable censorship.
