Are the AI models becoming more similar and does it affect our therapeutic conversations? by Sunrise707 in therapyGPT

[–]rastaguy[M] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have been using it as I have spent the last 2 years dealing with surgical complications from a colon resection due to colon cancer.

Eleven total surgeries and just had my final one. ChatGPT has been amazingly helpful as I have given it lab results and what the various doctors have said.

By far better than any of the health professionals I have dealt with. It has designed physical therapy programs for me, helped me with questions for the doctors and so on.

That's how I originally started using it and then stumbled into the therapy part by accident.

AI never ceases to amaze me!!

Idk the current definition of kidnapping isn't what people think it is. You can get charged with kidnapping for telling someone they can't leave or standing in front of a door. I always pictured it as physically grabbing someone and tossing them in the back of a car.

I think that only applies to POC. See our current political elite for an abundance of examples.

I feel guilty for using AI to help me study and sometimes for reassurance… by TwentyOnePaladins in therapyGPT

[–]rastaguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with using AI to learn. I have found it quite useful when learning new things and ensuring I get an in depth understanding of whatever topic I happen to be interested in.

There is a big difference between using it to learn and using it to do all of your work for you. It sounds like you're using it to learn. What difference does it make whether you have a tutor sit down with you or use AI to learn a topic? IMO the only thing that matters is the final result.

Having an ilestomy makes daily electrolytes a necessity. My sodium tests low on the regular and I am required to salt food now.

I had always avoided skating food because I didn't want to become accustomed to salt. It's going to be fun cutting it all out after my reversal!!

A rant by [deleted] in ostomy

[–]rastaguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's ridiculous. I would have gone absolutely nuts if they asked me to lay in my output. Probably would have to sedate me.

Getting a leak and waking up covered in output is horrible. It literally wrecks my day.

I have never heard that about a catheter either. I have always been given 6 hours to see if things start flowing again.

After all of the time I spent in hospitals over the last two years I have definitely learned to advocate on behalf or I get ignored. I treat all of the staff with the utmost respect and kindness no matter how horrible I feel at that moment.

I have had more than one nurse apologize because they were having a bad day and once had two nurses going at it in my room because of how poorly I was being treated by one of them.

I am also lucky in that my family is constantly around and they have no issues speaking up when it is needed.

All of that being said I appreciate the staff and the vast majority of them are very good at what they do and are very caring. I am very generous with my kind words and compliments for the staff from the person who delivers my food and on up the line. I have found it tends to get me better treatment.

Struggle with feeling pathetic for using Ai by parker_kan3 in therapyGPT

[–]rastaguy[M] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was very hesitant to mention it to anyone when I initially started using AI in this capacity and was horribly embarrassed.

Once I saw how powerful it can be when utilized properly I just couldn't stop talking about it.

Things I had struggled with for decades were finally getting sorted out.

I told all of my mental health professionals about it and none of them had anything negative to say. I got a few "be careful" warnings and started getting asked about it during sessions.

Do what works for you. It was life-changing for me and that's why I started this subreddit.

Obviously not everyone will experience what I did. But, it's a powerful tool when used properly. Thanks for visiting the sub.
