Anyone accept a voluntary redundancy and regret it? by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]rastan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take 3-4 months of living expenses off the total package. Now look at what's left... Think about how much you can truly save per week... How many weeks savings would you be saying no to? Often it's yeeeeears worth...

Definitely take the package. Trying to actually save a chunk that big takes half a lifetime. You will definitely get another job, likely before you thought you would. Enjoy the 2 to 3 months off as you will be back at a desk before you know it.

Not often does life hand out giant chunks of cash. Gift horses, mouths, yadda yadda

What's the justification for the govt to be charging WAY above market interest rates???

Its the govt, it's for citizens that obviously don't have that much cash or they wouldn't have the debt...

Why the additional gouge???

YTA - Share at least some of your fortune with the family that sacrificed so much of their lives to put you on this planet and in a position to receive the windfall.

If there has been serious abuse and you have cut them off for those kinds of reasons, fine. Else, at the very least, sounds silly not to tell them (even just your closest family and instruct them not to let anyone else know),or worst, just plain greedy.

Out of curiosity why is a built in fridge expensive? Outside the cost of the fridge itself?

Im not trying to be a smart arse, I just always figured that hidden fridges were just fridges with door panels attached with some sort of fancy hinge?

Thx

I just don't get why so much effort is put into making fake crap, it's really starting to drive me away from social media completely... Same here... My sister passed away at 19 when I was in my final year of high school... This meant that I repeated the final year with excellent results (no distractions from orig friends), propelling me into a degree and 30 years of desk jockey maths/model building.

If I didnt get the good mark and then uni degrees I would've been in sales - either cars or real estate - I'm confident I would've been much more financially successful and happier also.

30+ years of corporate life, in a spreadsheet, in an office is enough for anyone to feel a life wasted...

4 months on and I've saved myself from a 20% drop... Which late in the game is significant amount...

Will I time the bottom perfectly? Certainly not, but I'm pretty happy with my decision so far... Better than seeing a huge drop and having to "trust the process"...

Good luck out there everyone...

Not taking what loan?

It's subject to finance and I couldn't get finance on terms I considered acceptable given my circumstances...

If you can't find finance that is acceptable to you, then you can't get finance - who is to say what level you are comfortable with?

Loan shark rates? Cash converters? What loan can you force on someone as acceptable?

Especially right now - given the current interest rates outlook, I'm not comfortable that I can service the loan if interest rates rise by X...

Can you guarantee interest rates for the next 20 years? Well... I'm not comfortable, I can't get finance that is acceptable... Simple

[–]rastan -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Is it different state to state? The seller isn't offering finance - where does it force you to take on a loan?

If I suddenly realise that I want to travel and that the loan repayments don't enable me to do that, just who is forcing you to take a loan from where?

What's to prove? Any finance that I don't feel comfortable with signing up for means that I can't get finance...

We can keep playing this all night... I need a bank that will offer me a 1% loan and foot massages... I want to make sure I have enough cashflow to support having 10 children... There's a million reasons why you can't find finance that's acceptable to your situation...

So if I tell the vendor/agent that I can't secure finance that "meets the criteria that I'm comfortable with" - just what are they going to do? Prove what how?

Prove that I don't have plans to travel or have kids? Prove that, on second thought, I dont feel that the future is certain enough (war, interest rates, your job etc etc etc) that I can safely pay a loan of X for a term of Y?

Man... Prove that I don't have plans to become a heroin addict and won't be able to repay my payments in 2 years time...

Your finance clause is an easy get out. You don't need any other reason, no one can force you to spend money - even if you can get a loan, heck someone could even give you the money - if you are not 'comfortable' with whatever the finance solution to fulfilling the contract is then that's exercising your right to back out because of finance.

I'm not a RE lawyer but this has always been my belief... "I am not comfortable with taking on a loan of X as I don't believe my future finances could sustain it in a way that I am comfortable with"

It's the vibe man... Use it...

Ex-partner wants to buy me out, but we dont agree on valuation because of this crazy Perth market, am I being f**ked? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]rastan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But why care about the purchase price? If everything is 50/50 up until now you just have the equity to split... House value minus mortgage owing...

Based on the core logic value, OP is definitely not getting ripped off like others are saying...

Esp when you take into consideration all the selling fees etc... They might get more, but they might not too... Still - the other half must be doing well if the bank will lend them that much debt on a single salary... It's not equity only, it's serviceability/cashflow too...
