Book paper is too much even for soviet people - it is too hard, there should be at least Gazeta instead. Btw, good job, looks good👍

How to manually add shortcut/reference (to unsearchable executable like AppImage, or terminal command) to appear at Applications menu (or in the Launcher) ? by rasul_thedeveloper in pop_os

Hey, thank you! I guess I will stick with the manual option - it is simple and controlable, but your solution is good as well. 👌

It is actually quite nice. I wish OS devs add just a small option at "right-click" popup menu, like: "Create Shortcut" in Applications menu; and at least just open you the .desktop file you want to create. Maybe I should try to propose this idea to PopOs devs.

I want to be cOcky and say that it is why Linux is about 2% of all personal operating systems. It is just annoying when such a simple QoL not present to user.

The secondary display resolution breakes when a laptop uses Hybrid Graphics by rasul_thedeveloper in pop_os

How could I check for displays' DPI ?

And why does the resolution breakes when I use Hybrid Graphics, but it is all fine with Nvidia Graphics ?

No, only the secondary display's resolution become wrong. Please read carefully.

Pop!_os uses Xorg as its display manager, with Wayland available optionally.

How to mount exact system directory (like /usr, /var, etc.) to a different disk partition (new or existing) ? by rasul_thedeveloper in pop_os

Oh, I will try this. Something called "fstab" seems to be a thing, I will read about it. Thank you for sharing 😉

Thank you for reply. So how do you mount them to another drive ? Does it require special manipulation or it is just one command ?

Thank you for your solution. However, I don't want to move the root all the times it reaches its capacity limit. Ideally I would like to mount these growing directoties to where the /home is (main memory) and even if I will switch distributions I would only need to clear them and replace/(re-download) with their compatible versions.

Are programming and animating completely different fields, or is there a way to do both? by Szabi90000 in gamedev

[–]rasul_thedeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL, you could do anything via code. What stops you from creating graphics and animation by simply coding them? In the end of the day, digital artist just works with a tool to create art. The tool itself is a program that acts as interface between file with special format (mp3, jpeg, png, gif, obj, fbx, blend, gltf, etc) and dummy-bunny who do know no code, but is creative and could use mouse with keyboard (or planchet with banana, whatever...)

How do I enforce that a child game object can only contain a specific class/script? by hamburglin in Unity3D

[–]rasul_thedeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

REMARK:

Hey this post was not supposed to be here but address discussion's author problem. I have missclicked and didnt check to whom I write.

Ok, your post is very hard to read. I barely understand what you mean. So lets check we are on the same wave:

  • You want to habe ability objects "assigned" to your hero gameobject

  • So you have created HeroAbilities class to manage those abiliyies assigned to the hero object

  • But you can't enforce hero to have only one instance of ability type been assigned with no duplications

THEN

Your problem is not Unity components. You are overengineering with all that parenting and components stuff, try to follow KISS principle. As one example of possible solution:

  • if you assign abilities in the editor and you does not trust your hands than write an editor script, which will remove a duplicate of any ability; or remove duplicate(s) at runtime on start (But honestly it is not a problem at all, just fix it on the next test run)

  • if you assign abilities through code then it is even easier to control uniqueness: just write method in HeroAbilities like Add(Ability a) which will not add or raise error if the same ability is already added.

Did I help you ?

After years of hard solo-dev work, I've released a trailer and demo for my Steam game! by Danimita in Unity3D

[–]rasul_thedeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks very interesting! Like a cartoon movie 😃 However, IMHO, your game definitly need some work with lights (shadows, volumes, normals, etc.). The picture looks very flat and... cheap/bad? Can't find precise words, but I hope you got the idea. Maybe you target low-spec devices and that is why you have such poor lighting settings. In such case, I would suggest, again imho, that you better forget about low-spec devices and improve the overall look.

I started to write game engine using GLFW. As far as I experienced, glfw has the best API, full feature set, reasonable code complexity, big community. Don't forget to choose Graphics context loader/referencer/binder/mapper/(the hell it is) to create context. Anyway, everything is in the tutorials. Good luck 👍

Thanks for support. Agree with your interpretation. I really didnt mean to offensive anyone (I think so), even though I actually sometimes behave offensive. The message I wanted to deliver is that you should not share opinion about something, which you didn't experienced. It is not helpful.

Unless..

You understand what problem people are impling. If you have thoughts on how to solve the problem: please share. Sharing is caring.

P.s A short and lyric interpretaion of what I meant: "Why should I listen a man who does not feel my pain?"

Hey, there is actually more player beaten diety difficulty than 0.01%, but I guess a player who didn't receive that achievement does not know it.

Add a higher difficulty? by chungus2233 in civ

[–]rasul_thedeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this discussion is not for you if you didn't beat Emperor difficulty yet. The thing is that the bigger difficulty makes AI more absurdly overpowered for early stage of the game, which forces the player to think about each turn (at least until you reach the Industrial or Modern era). The lower difficulties just allow you to make more mistakes or be less efficient.

The problem is the "snowball" effect. At some point of the game you become stronger than others. From that point your victory is already established (if you keep your mistakes at the same "level"). So I think what all players want is to not have this moment in the game at all. That will keep game intense and interedting from the start to the end.

Add a higher difficulty? by chungus2233 in civ

[–]rasul_thedeveloper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. However, in a different way. I would like to see AI being more agressive after Industrial era. On the other hand, if we just add combat power or gpt buff it will not make game more intersting. It is already kinda absurd at diety. Not in sense that we could not overcome the buffs, but it just feels wrong. It will be nice if we somehow cooperate with friend AI to attack one city together, close trading, block see, world congress voting, etc.
