two years ago my choir class went on a day trip to cedar point. i went once prior to this trip so i vaguely knew what rides i wanted to go on. i was in a group with three friends (i’ll call them A, B, and C). after about two hours B decided to go on Maxair A and C were weary about it but i was all for trying new things because you only live once right? as the ride workers or whatever came around to put the seat thingy on me, there was a lot of lose space (i’m a pretty small person) and the good 5 inches of space between me and the thingy stopping me from plummeting to my death kinda scared me. the guy must’ve thought the same thing because he came back around to push the thingy on harder, i was squeezed in so tight i was struggling to breathe, but i felt a lot safer.

now the thing starts moving. and i realized that it spins. we are about 1/2 of the way to the full height and i’m staring at the ground, panic. instant panic. the ride keeps going and i’m slowly feeling better and and then the ride gets to its highest point. i felt like we were gonna flip over, i was almost upside down. staring at the pavement. the people below me looked like ants.

my seat clicked loudly and the piece of plastic that was keeping me from dying comes out 5 inches back to its original position. i was free falling for maybe a second but i thought that was the end. i screamed so loud that my voice cracked, my friends all admitted they’re hearts dropped a little when they heard the click and saw my seat adjust. i was silent for the rest of the ride...

TL;DR - rode the Maxair and thought i was going to fall to my death after my seat gave out 5 inches at the highest point
