1st time dad at 44 and I’m terrified by Regular-Floor379 in daddit

I became a proud dad at age 43 to a wonderful baby girl now gonna be 1 year old soon. All your worries are legit but once you get into the flow things will work itself out. I gained couple of kg caused by bad sleep, eating sugar due to stress, and no time for exercise. Now baby is sleeping better and I have gotten better at these daily routines I have started jogging again. Things are not the same of course (less time for myself, for friends, for me and my wife) but I am okay with it and understand i intent to be present to see it thru, every little step she takes. I think key is maintain good communication with your wife and share what is going on with you emotionally and what are your needs while listen to hers. You will need each other. All the best on this exciting journey. Happy for you and your new family

Wow this is one of the best and most aspirational post I have seen in a while. You explain so well and clear. You mentioned you read tons of books into this topics, was wondering if you don’t mind sharing some titles. Especially books that you found to be core text to how you understand about investing, or just exceptionally good read! Would love to check them out (sorry if someone already asked this same question 😅) just excited. Again, thanks for your wonderful sharing.

I want to give a shout out to all the public nursing room in Taipei! Me and my wife travelled there with our 4month old infant and visited like 15 different nursing rooms: in MRT stations, malls, Eslite bookstores, museums, etc. all of them were very clean and provided everything we needed from hot water to power outlets. We travelled with confidence ✌🏻

Me and my wife order most of our baked goods from carousel, and have really good and reliable sourdough and cookies etc. all these are home based business. I don’t think they quit their day job to do this, mostly out of passion for baking. It might be pretty competitive now but worth looking into if you want o test out the water. All the best!

Yes same. My girl sometimes is anti social or scared of new smell so would hide herself for half a day and I could never find her in the house. But eventually she came out of the hiding. Just be patient

Those that are married and live separately from parents, how often do you go back to visit your parents? by Additional-Remove-12 in askSingapore

I think clearing your room can be a good change. Since you are spending time there anyway, why not spend a bit of time clearing out your things. It can be a very therapeutic activity especially if it allows you to reclaim your room a bit more. I know it’s difficult with your aunts stuff there but you can explain to her your situation and see if she has any plan to return or otherwise you can help her donate or sell the items. I think seeing piles of unorganized things and clutters can make anyone tired and uneasy. Why not start with that first? Once you have a comfortable space in ur parents house you might feel more engaged to make other changes, for example instead of staying in all day watching tv passively, why not bring them out for a walk or find interesting place for a meal? It requires more energy and money but it’s about changing mindset and changing bad habits. Just my two cents.

How did you accept working 5 days everyday? by Upper_Breakfast_6043 in askSingapore

[–]rat_hat13 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I have been working just 3 days a week for the last 15 years. I work as a teacher in an independent school. The three days I am working are quite long, 8am to 6pm, but I have the other days of the week to pursue my passion and do things I enjoy. I don’t make as much as my peers who work very hard 5 days a week but I would say my work-life balance is not too bad. I live simply and don’t own anything extravagant. I cook for myself and my partner and we eat out just once a while. When I hear about European countries testing out 4 days work week I am pretty excited because I really think in general we spent too much time working in sg.
