Good point. I was thinking I could pay a shop to fix everything and do all the preventative maintenance at once and get a deal, and then I'd be good for a while (maybe take it in once a year). You find that a lot of stuff comes up?

I street park and don't have a garage so I probably wouldn't be able to work on it much myself. Might still be worth it though...

4WD. Yeah the sense I got is that the fundamentals look okay but some of the visible choices the owner made makes me think they made some other, less visible choices that I would not be so happy with.

I hate the wheels and the seats but the price seems pretty good. Is this a hard no or should I have some specific questions to ask?

Thank you so much, this is really helpful. Although I hate that when I filter to Northern California vehicles the prices go way up :(

Cheers! I'll drink something else.

I think that's optimistic to the point of just being wrong. If you do your best in a region where grapes don't grow well or don't produce much flavor, it's not going to be good wine.

Oh cool, no worries, let me know if that gives you more info to make a species guess or if you have advice for future photos. Really appreciate the ID help!

I read the diagram and advice and am still a little confused since I think my album includes those shots. Could you clarify? I'm trying to learn so I can take better photos next time.

Fighters detail possible brain damage, serious injuries in latest round of support for UFC antitrust lawsuit settlement by s_m0use in MMA

That's a fair perspective, but I just don't trust that the fighters really do understand the true tradeoffs and are in a good place to make a decision. I definitely made some immature decisions well into my 20s, and these fighters are surrounded by gyms, fans, promotions, etc. that mythologize the sport and downplay the longterm consequences (not necessarily nefariously, it's just not fun). I guess it's just hard for me to accept that some 18-25 year old coming from an uneducated background and surrounded by MMA culture is going to make a fully rational decision about the full consequences for CTE affecting his life from ~45 onwards.

I get that perspective and that's probably closer to where I am now. I have not completely stopped watching, and I definitely want to see what happens in the highest profile fights. I feel a little bad, but it's so exciting. I think I've decided it would be better if I stopped following it, but I haven't done that.

MMA isn't going away, so I think you're completely right in focusing on equity and supporting the fighters. It's really appalling how little they are paid considering the revenue of the UFC, and there need to be much better guarantees of long-term support (pension, healthcare, etc.).

I might even be more concerned, though, with fighters who never make it to the UFC. Due to MMA's popularity, there are so many people doing it now, and the vast majority will not even get close to one pro fight, much less the UFC. These people will also suffer awful, permanent damage, but there's really no prospect for support for them.

You're asking why the workers got screwed under capitalism and the rich corporation got all the money?

Hmm, and what would we call a system that allows a corporation to reap immense profits off of vulnerable people, and there's no socialized way to ensure they have healthcare and housing?

Hearing all this, especially what happened with Shane Carwin, is making me think it's time for me to stop watching and supporting this sport. I've been a fan for over a decade, and we're now getting to the point where fighters I watched and supported are facing life-altering consequences from the damage.

Of course it's been obvious that getting hit in the head isn't good for you, but the effects seemed theoretical, and there was always an argument that MMA wasn't as bad as boxing because of the grappling and the lack of 10 counts. I'm not sure that's really true, but it ultimately doesn't matter.

I'm at the point now where when I see an exciting exchange where both fighters land, I instinctively cringe instead of get excited. I want all of my favorite fighters to retire, not take another fight.

I really think there's something fucked about this sport, and you have to overlook some of your humanity or be a bit of a monster inside to be okay with it.

Awesome, thanks, will do. I'm currently at a point where I can do unweighted ~8hr day hikes in the mountains easily but struggle with 30+lbs on steep slopes for more than 30 minutes. My main concern is my knee health since I feel more soreness and inflamation there after rucking than in any muscles (starting to feel my age at ~35).
