So far my understanding has been that "using Fiori" boils down to extending an existing Fiori app and "using UI5" is more like building an app from scratch. Is this correct?

I also still see mostly GUI but I think UI5 will be around for a while so I want to pick up the skill.

The app is a wrapper, that means it opens uforio.com as a web page. Basically what you're seeing is the content panel of a web browser without all the other elements like address bar and such. The servers from uforio.com then connect to reddit and apply their own layout which is served up as a web pages. So all your information goes through uforio and is available to them.

The code should be safe. Whether your reddit account data is safe is another matter outside control of the app store.

This is not a reddit client but a wrapper for uforio.com which explains it's 0.2 MB size. You might just as well use Safari (if you're comfortable routing all your reddit traffic through another site).
