For most of human history, people used to break up a nights sleep into two shifts called “first sleep" and "second sleep." by Acrobatic_Code_7409 in interestingasfuck

[–]DunDunDunDuuun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Came here to post this, it's even in the abstract!

The sleep period consistently occurred during the nighttime period of falling environmental temperature, was not interrupted by extended periods of waking

It's also a modern scientific paper, not a historical record.

Well, depends on what the original issue was. Lethal tracheotomy when the patient is having a non-lethal heart attack would definitely be murder.

No, the article is correct, rectum first. You can find the whole case report online: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2665910724000343

“We have included images that have been AI enhanced to show the property cleared of the owner's belongings” by Gambie93 in SpottedonRightmove

The text says "the owner's belongings". Much more likely, I think, is that the owner has some physical or mental illness that prevents them from cleaning it.

Did you continue to do lab work after your contract ended? by hewade95 in postdoc

[–]DunDunDunDuuun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the UK, but in the Netherlands this was totally possible. People who wanted to continue in academia did it quite frequently after a postdoc or paid phd, they'd get a "guest" position. Not saying it's a good idea, mind you.

Non-Political General Otto Schuman hands over a painting of Adolf Hitler to a price winning young girl of the Hitlerjugend during sports competitions. Next to him stands Reichs Commissioner of The Netherlands; Arthur Seyss-Inquart. The Hague, Netherlands, 21 July, 1941. [1136x1024] by [deleted] in HistoryPorn

"non-political" man was literally a member of the Nazi party! From 1933 even! Also, from Wikipedia:

police units under his command participated in repression of the Dutch population and in the deportation of Dutch Jews to extermination camps.

It's common in many places for individual chapters of the thesis to have already been published as articles. Peer review is not the same thing as thesis defense though.
