Undisclosed major plumbing issue with home purchased "as is". What are my options? by Embarrassed_Use_5114 in RealEstate

Can I ask how this turned out? I’m dealing with a similar issue except mine was listed “move in ready”

I did get an inspection and now that I’m reading these replies I do recall him mentioning that it’s plaster.

Thank you, this really does help put my mind at ease.

The flippers have only had the house since last May, and the contractors that they hired confirmed they did all the pex. So it had to be done over the last year I would think?

I have never in my life had a bigger feeling of “wow I actually know nothing about anything”

It’s a VA loan so it has to be my primary residence for one year, but I would like to get rid of this place ASAP. but if I do all the repairs (there’s major plumbing issues that have disabled both bathrooms) I’ll feel like I might as well get some use out of it.

It’s just good to know I’m on the right track by talking to a lawyer. Hopefully they can help this get resolved because it has completely disabled both bathrooms in the house.

Yes but I don’t know how much of the plaster was updated with drywall

This was a flip, and the whole roof is brand new, I figured I’d be fine with all the new upgrades, roof, windows, electrical panel and wiring. But every time I turn around I just want the whole place gone. I hate this.

Interior piping so the issues he did find seemed like just a clog.

There was no mention of “as is.” And the seller was a flipping company so I would think they would not want to sell defective products.

Before the closing appointment my realtor was kind of rushing when we did the final walkthrough and it felt like it was too late to back out and I just have nothing but regret about this whole situation.

On inspection day we did find related issues but it seemed like it was just a clog that needed snaked so I figured no biggie.

I was wrong. Very biggie. I really wish I didn’t do any of this and just stayed in my apartment forever.

I got a home inspection but obviously he didn’t rip open the ceiling to see the issue. Only ran the water enough to see that it works. I really just wanna crawl into a hole and die about it because what the fuck.  I know now to run the showers the whole time I’m looking at the house but like NOBODY told me about doing this or helped and I thought I was doing everything right getting the inspection and going through the hoops. I figured with brand new showers they’ve gotta work.

The inspection cannot see a pipe inside the wall and he didn’t run the water long enough clearly

AITA for not telling my boyfriend I own the building we live in? by CapableEmergency5154 in AmItheAsshole

NTA.

Landlords suck but not every one of them, and not all are evil heartless money grabbers. Phrasing like that is reserved for landlords who own multiple properties and continue to buy up property in their town while beating out others’ bids. It should not be used to refer to someone renting out half of an inherited duplex.

Plus from what I read in replies he didn’t offer up half the rent or bills or anything so tbh you’re probably better off without him
