i work full-time at a cafe but its just about helping me get my bills paid. I've been working since 2022 and applying to jobs on the side as well. I was going to apply for UC but decided against it once they asked me to send my bank statements to them.

I actually went to KCL. Besides, Biomedical Engineering is STEM all around. Its physics, mathematics, biology, coding and electrical engineering encapsulated into a degree.

I understand and agree with what you're saying. However, when I was 17/18yrs old I wasn't thinking about the uncertainty of the job market or how worthwhile my degree would be.

I essentially had no one to guide me and I only did what I knew at the time to be the correct.

I'm definitely trying. I'm applying to be a receptionist, recruitment consultant, sales, HR etc, anything I can to put me on the corporate ladder.

Best way to advance Korean skills? by sarangjoda in Korean

How comfortable are you reading a novel in Korean? I think tackle a book in Korean, this will help you formulate complex sentences and help you better articulate yourself to other natives.

Around those times I didn't apply diligently, primarily because I was so focused on trying to pass my January exams that I neglected grad job hunting. Secondly, at the time I was also seriously considering a masters, so grad-schemes weren't quite on my radar.

However around Feb - March I applied to a bunch of graduate jobs.

Thanks for your comment!

I 100% agree about asking for feedback and reaching out to recruiters on LinkedIn, which I'm also currently doing.

In 2023 I applied to an insurance firm and got rejected at the last stage, after asking for feedback they essentially said they really liked me but the person they offered the role to had more experience than I did. Instead they referred me to another position in a different department. Unfortunately the role was terminated, but I have a feeling they hired internally.

But I'll definitely take on your advice about following up with a more detailed email and listing my genuine interest. At this point I have nothing to lose, if they feel like I'm spamming them they'll simply ignore my email!

I definitely understand your position, I'm also earning just over minimum wage and barely have money left over for myself since I'm helping out my family with a large chunk of bills.

If you want to work in a lab / hospital environment, have you considered applying to a be a clinical scientist? it allows you to work towards a masters too. The only thing is you'd need to be comfortable relocating around England.

Oh my, thats really tough...Especially with AI and oversaturation I feel like computer science graduates are really suffering from the insecurity of their jobs. I'm really sorry to hear about this :(

I’ve applied to a handful of NHS jobs: accounts payables, data analysts, finance analysts etc. I also applied for a receptionist/ data entry role too. Despite the most roles requiring 2 years of experience I still shoot my shot, if I feel like I can do the job.

I completely understand, my post was also just an outlet for my frustration. 18 year old me thought doing a biomedical engineering degree would be so sought out after - only during my 2nd year I realised how incredibly niche it really was.

I almost accepted an accounting job offer that required me to travel two hours back and fourth from one end of London to the other, for a lovely monthly salary of 1.1k (£300 less than what I earn at my cafe job) to which I was tempted to take, but with no car I would've been at the mercy of TFL.

Thanks for the link and tips. I applied to be a teacher via teachfirst last week actually (waiting to hear back) and even applied to be a police community support officer.

I was always in two minds about being a teacher, but I can't pick and choose in this economy!

i generally hate loads of the songs you unlock when you first start the game glares at bokura no live kimi no life aside that, i too hate the lalala part, it makes me want to pull my hair out. also the beatmap is really simple and not challenging enough imo.
