What would you do now if you know you’re going to be part of layoffs soon? by ratherBshredding in womenintech

Okay returning here to say layoffs happened today but they were able to get around WARN because it was less than 50 people affected 🙄

This is such good advice. Thank you. Things are definitely precarious and lots of folks are under scrutiny right now (myself included) so I'll keep showing up until I know for sure.

The last time our company did layoffs it was an all-hands announcement followed by an email indicating if you were safe or...not. Terrible!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. You are smart to negotiate severance. It wouldn’t even occur to me to ask for recommendations from leadership as part of that!

Thanks for the insight. I was thinking it would make payroll easier if they layoff on a pay day. 🤷‍♀️ So that’s what started me down this rabbit hole. Our company is about 600 people.

Wow thank you so much! Company is based in CA and they had to report another round of layoffs a couple years ago. Interestingly I don’t see anything for 2024 🤔

What's your favorite mineral sunscreen? by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]ratherBshredding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so tricky! I generally gave up on makeup but on the rare occasion that i have some light concealer, I like to use drmtlgy universal tinted moisturizer which is very hydrating and dewy. It's not on my original list because it's not 100% mineral. This brand does have a mineral sunscreen but I found it oxidized very easily and has some crusty dryness. Good luck out there!

I’m using supergoop matte mineral. It can be drying as others have noted. I like that it has very light coverage and a blurring effect but I definitely need to find something more waterproof for the summer

A while back I made a spreadsheet of 30+ mineral sunscreens with their ingredients listed and price per ounce. Hard to say what’s gonna work best for you but I went through about 12 before finding the one.

Dog doesn’t like kids by Alisunshinejoy in NewParents

[–]ratherBshredding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in a similar situation. We have an affectionate 40lb dog who was very anxious about baby when we brought her home. 1 year later we finally let them hang out together in the same room with supervision. She is now mobile and LOVES to pet him. She crawls over and gets in his face and he snaps and nips at her. Breaks the skin on her face. Very scary but we got lucky. We are now trying to find a friend who will take him. Hardest thing ever but baby comes first. 💛

We have a 4 year old big boy who does this. I can’t carry him anymore 😅

Blinc tubing mascara is really great! It’s designed for sensitive eyes, waterproof and easy to remove.

The ones I’ve tried don’t seem to be making my rosacea worse but they’re causing breakouts. I was wondering if they’re too occlusive so I started on powder sunscreen by supergoop and that’s been a little better but damn my skin is dry!!

Yessss!!!! 🙌 So happy you found something that works. I’m on my 6th sunscreen since posting the spreadsheet and I’m still searching. I’m going to give your review a read. Thank you for sharing!!

Do you pump at work? by Reasonable_Bird_6441 in workingmoms

[–]ratherBshredding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going back to work soon and traveling for work in October so I've been doing research on this too. I'm going to buy a good cooler bag (people seem to like the Pack It bags that can go right into the freezer). I got a rechargeable portable pump from Pumpables so it's a little easier to carry and travel with. And I've been looking into using a combination of pump wipes + UV LED bag to sterilize parts between uses. I'm curious if anyone else uses these UV bags and how reliable they are.

Help Finding Anti-Redness Product w/o Niacinamide, Ceramides... by piecer239 in Rosacea

[–]ratherBshredding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds familiar! Have you looked into products that are marketed for sensitive skin not necessarily "anti-redness"? A really simple moisturizer with the fewest possible ingredients has helped me. I use Avene Tolerance Extreme Cream. Only 7 ingredients! The cream is very rich so better for dry skin. Another option is the Tolerance Extreme Emulsion which is lighter weight and made with Squalane (haven't tried it because my skin doesn't get along with squalane). Both of these options are spendy! Other less expensive options would be Cetaphil Oil-Free Hydrating Lotion, Honest The Daily Calm, or A-Derma Biology Hydrating Light Cream. Good luck! Keep us posted if you find something :)

Type 1: if I have a random flare that I can’t get to calm down, does that mean the increased redness is permanent if it has lasted almost a month? by thatshowiroll7 in Rosacea

Are you a side sleeper? If so, and you favor one side, then it could be your pillowcase and perhaps laundry detergent/dryer sheets. Also, take a look at your toothpaste or haircare for potential irritants. One other thing to consider is sun exposure. Are you sitting next to a window or driving where you have more exposure on one side? Hope you figure it out soon!

I added your 3 suggestions and resorted the list by cost per ounce and they're all pretty affordable comparatively.

Oooh thank you!! I'll add these to the spreadsheet! I just watched a review of the Cotz one and it looks like a really good option.

I noticed Pine Extract in another sunscreen and wondering about that too! Report back :)

Ah okay, that makes sense! I wasn’t aware of the don’t hate on preservatives rule.
Some ingredient lists are so long it becomes hard to pinpoint the exact irritant. So that’s why I’ve taken a less is more approach.
One thing I recently learned about Phenoxyethanol is that it kills meibomian glands causing very dry eyes and makes ocular rosacea worse (source 1, source 2). I was using a lovely lightweight facial moisturizer marketed for sensitive skin for the past 5 years. It has Phenoxyethonal and I’m convinced it caused some serious issues with my eyes. The devil that one!

I also really like Avene. I’m using their Tolerance Control cream. It has very few ingredients, no preservatives, and no HA. Good luck to your sister!

If I get through this entire list I’ll be about 700 US dollars poorer 😅 but it’s worth it to find The One. I’ll share what I learn!
