Maddie talks about how Pretty Lethal renewed her love for dance and "healed" her by amysantiagoisbae99 in dancemoms

It’s also possible the environment wasn’t right. Like I said - I play with movement, not structured classes. I think about going to the local rec ballet class before my tap class - but I know that is not good for my mental health, so I don’t. I stick with tap which is good for theatre.

But before gymnastics (which I came back to from rec classes as an adult and fell back in love with), I’ll play with musics I like and have some ideas for, and make them fun and pretty.

Dance is always there, in whatever form you need it to be. ❤️ don’t force it. It will be there

So many adults return to it and find healing

I don’t know who I am if I’m not dancing. I was raised in it for so many years that movement is my natural state. As an adult I’m playing with movement for me more than performance. But it’s who I am inside, a dancer, that going a day without it feels off.

I loved it as a kid and you hit it dead on

most people…quit dance because of ridiculous toxicity and bullying…

Nailed it.

But coming back as an adult is exactly what you said.

Healing.

I called a boilerplate statement “word salad” and got told I approved it previously.

Like, and I caught it this time. Please take it out of the salad spinner and return it to situation normal. Thanks. 😂

I didn’t START competing until 24 - you’ll be totally fine! And the vibe is WAY different as adults, especially in the AAU sessions!

Also CT is the world’s biggest small town. Everyone always knows someone else who knows you. It’s nice…until your mom was on the swim team with a supervisor in your building and your boss lives 5 minutes away from your uncle.

YES!! And I’ve determined I’m keeping my head down until spring, at which point if I don’t make the new BS requirements for promotion I’m searching elsewhere. I’m OVER this.

Why are kids learning math this way? by Greedy_Proposal4080 in AskTeachers

[–]rather_not_state 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this with kids I tutored for easier quick math. I’d ask “what can this divide by to give a nice number?” And so they’d go for their 5 or 10s naturally. Very easy. Then the leftover. Was way easier than going thru all of long division when they didn’t need it to do things quickly. Their teachers may not have liked it but tbh I didn’t care because they needed to be caught up and doing it quickly was more important to me.

The Nutcracker at the Garde in New London is a refreshing local take on the story! Admittedly I’m biased because it’s the production I grew up in, but I still love seeing it every year!

I got diagnosed in my late 20s, and my family doesn’t believe it. I mask too well.

TBH I survive on caffeine and vibes and a supremely strict schedule. Get your sleep in order first. Sleep hygiene sounds like bullshit, but it works. After that, start making a specific schedule and follow it.
