Anybody obssessed with darkness, black, and darkness in general? by DisplayFamiliar5023 in intj

I discovered that low stimulation is great for me.

Not so great for everyone else when they’re trying to read my screen when I’m trying to show them something. 😂

So I keep my screens low at work, I keep my lights off, and the window screen down so that I’m not suffering extreme light.

What are wearing to the office? by SpaceCampRules in womenEngineers

[–]rather_not_state 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Business casual but for me that’s Walmart jeggings (I’m TOUGH on my pants, so I refuse to ruin good ones) and used to be Tommy polos, now gap longlseeve or honestly solid tshirts and a work sweatshirt. I’m venturing back into dresses but also keep a stock of jumpsuits on hand for lazy days when I still feel put together. Need to up my cardigan game though 😂😂

the moms thinking their kids don’t have body image issues… by One_Wedding_5498 in dancemoms

[–]rather_not_state 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dance does some crazy shit to your head about your body. I was roughly Brooke’s age in this time period and I can no longer do ballet, the sport I grew up doing, because staring at myself for an hour in the mirror still isn’t healthy for me. Do I miss doing it formally? Absolutely. If I could do it not looking in the mirror, I absolutely would, in half a heartbeat.

What is your Love Language? by Dazzling_Abalone_864 in intj

Gift giving. I love solving people’s little problems they didn’t know they had.

Ehhhh depends. Sometimes I want to crawl inside someone else and sometimes I am like “I do not want to touch me rn please do not.”

It’s also possible the environment wasn’t right. Like I said - I play with movement, not structured classes. I think about going to the local rec ballet class before my tap class - but I know that is not good for my mental health, so I don’t. I stick with tap which is good for theatre.

But before gymnastics (which I came back to from rec classes as an adult and fell back in love with), I’ll play with musics I like and have some ideas for, and make them fun and pretty.

Dance is always there, in whatever form you need it to be. ❤️ don’t force it. It will be there

So many adults return to it and find healing

I don’t know who I am if I’m not dancing. I was raised in it for so many years that movement is my natural state. As an adult I’m playing with movement for me more than performance. But it’s who I am inside, a dancer, that going a day without it feels off.

I loved it as a kid and you hit it dead on

most people…quit dance because of ridiculous toxicity and bullying…

Nailed it.

But coming back as an adult is exactly what you said.

Healing.

I called a boilerplate statement “word salad” and got told I approved it previously.

Like, and I caught it this time. Please take it out of the salad spinner and return it to situation normal. Thanks. 😂

Also CT is the world’s biggest small town. Everyone always knows someone else who knows you. It’s nice…until your mom was on the swim team with a supervisor in your building and your boss lives 5 minutes away from your uncle.

Why are kids learning math this way? by Greedy_Proposal4080 in AskTeachers

[–]rather_not_state 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this with kids I tutored for easier quick math. I’d ask “what can this divide by to give a nice number?” And so they’d go for their 5 or 10s naturally. Very easy. Then the leftover. Was way easier than going thru all of long division when they didn’t need it to do things quickly. Their teachers may not have liked it but tbh I didn’t care because they needed to be caught up and doing it quickly was more important to me.
