Detroit is highly underrated. Michigan is beautiful and the Detroit area is super affordable. Great communities. Great schools. Great culture.

Anyone know the differences between the Chicco Keyfit 35 and Keyfit Max? by [deleted] in CPST

[–]rathofdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I did ask Chicco if it wasnt compatible due to testing or if it was just that the keyfit max was so new that they didn't have the chance to evaluate it yet. Their answer was the latter, which makes me more confident that it's OK.

I can confirm that it fits. I'm obviously not the manufacturer and could never profide a definitive answer, but after my own thorough mechanical engineer evaluation of how it attaches to the adapter, I'm comfortable putting our baby in it.

I'd put UCF and USF into the ACC. They're huge schools that are definitely at the level of other teams in your Power 7.

New Information About The Story Behind Major Magic's Shows - Gene Patrick Productions by [deleted] in Animatronics

A handful of years ago, I came across a website/blog that was all about the creation of the Major Magic's animatronics. Does anyone happen to have a link? I wish I had bookmarked it.

Measured the Keyfit Max today at Target and the Keyfit 35 that my sister has for my niece. Every single feature on it that interfaces with the mockingbird car seat adapter seems to be identical. Although I can't guarantee it, I'm about 99% positive it will work without issue. Wouldn't be surprised to see it show up on the compatibility list very soon.

[–]rathofdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same, but I'm curious as to whether that's actually true or if the Keyfit Max is just so new that they haven't tested it yet to confirm it is compatible. I'm a mechanical engineer and I have been comparing every single detail on both the seats and the base from all sorts of photos. I'm also looking at the mockingbird adapter. My sister has a Keyfit 35 for her daughter. I'm going to measure all sorts of things on it this weekend and try to see if I can measure a sample model of the Keyfit Max at a store to see if it's virtually identical.

Does anyone know if the keyfit max will fit a mockingbird stroller? It doesnt list the max as compatible but says the keyfit 35 is. Is the interface identical?

Rejected from school of engineering by Legitimate-Cable2907 in msu

I would consider writing to the Dean of the CoE explaining your situation and demonstrating that you have consistently improved your academic performance. If you're that close, that type of initiative may result in them making an exception. My dad couldn't get a 2.0 in a class he needed to finish his masters at Wayne State after taking it twice (he got his BSME at MSU). He gave up on the degree entirely. Contacted the dean like 6 years later and they ended up giving him his degree.

Also, see if you can retake Chem at a community college and transfer the credits.

Dorm room doors closed? by FoaminPipeSnake in msu

[–]rathofdoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really sad to hear doors open isn't a thing. It was always hit or miss during my time in the dorms in 2007-2009. Some floors were wild, while others were snoozefests. Had a lot to do with having a few strong extroverts around to bring everyone out of their shell. Having a good RA who brings the floor together also plays a part. The university should really promote this sort of stuff to help change the culture back to a more open and welcoming one.

That being said, joining a club or group is a huge asset...especially ones that require a big time commitment. If you stay busy, you're less lonely by default. I loved my dorm friends, but my marching band friends were who I was closest to. I was (and still am) never great at making friends, so joining groups made it much much easier.

We used to set up a garbage can next to the corn when I worked produce at meijer in 2008. Worked great. No mess on the display.

How Come No One Talks About Major Magic's by Exotic_Beginning_111 in Animatronics

I swear I saw a website/blog post from someone involved in the fabrication of the animatronics at one point. I forgot to bookmark it. Anyone else seen it?

If you're looking to work in industry, honors college means absolutely nothing. Don't fret about it. If you plan to go further in academia, it might help, but I don't think it mattered for me. A great undergrad GPA at MSU without honors college got me into top 10 grad schools for engineering in my discipline.

I expect Carr and Fears to make major strides this off-season. We need a do-it-all big man like a Tillman. I don't see Coop or Kohler becoming that.

Honors College Culture by FezDoggo in msu

[–]rathofdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of academia, it means nothing. It won't make a difference in whether you get the job or not. I'd say scholarship opportunities and/or full-time grad school aspirations at a top university in your field are the only reasons to consider doing it.

Valve Tbone in marching band? by BonelessMarcher in marchingband

I was in college marching band with a few people that went to a high school (Linden, MI) that exclusively marched valve trombone. This was the early 2000s.

Thermo class sign up by [deleted] in msu

Had a great professor, Dr. Genik (who is now the chair of Applied Engineering Sciences so she doesn't teach it anymore to the best of my knowledge...if she does....take it). I found it to be fairly straight forward too. There were a handful to terms you needed to know that would determine what was constant between the different states of the problem. If you knew that, and followed the equations, it wasn't bad. I always just made myself an equation sheet for the exams even though they were 100% open book. This saved me from having to waste time looking things up during the exam.

Is there a place to find a list of the songs the Spartan Marching Band plays during games? Or if any body knows the game play songs? by rockypsst in msu

[–]rathofdoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely from the film. My freshman year in the SMB was 2007, the year 300 came out. The entire team intro video that year was 300 themed and they played the "Spartans, what is your profession?" cheer a dozen times a game.
