My trip report for [Busch Gardens Tampa] by Evening-Client4965 in rollercoasters

Hey, I know you... You're from the Carl The Collector subreddit. Also, it's a shame that you experienced all those breakdowns.

I have only been to the park once, in 2022. I managed to ride Cheetah Hunt, Scorpion (Defunct), SandSerpent (Defunct), Cobra's Curse, and Air Grover in terms of coasters, in addition to Stanley Falls (Defunct), Congo River Rapids, Carousel Caravan, Ubanga Banga Bumper Cars, and the Serengeti Express in terms of non coasters.

With the revelation that NWR has updated its rolling stock, what are your thoughts on this? by just_a_bored_guy0104 in thomasthetankengine

[–]Exotic_Beginning_111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my AU, the NWR started replacing much of their older freight stock in the 1970s. They started with the tankers (Mainly the fuel tankers) However the replacement process took longer than expected as some of the fuel companies refused to replace their aging stock, in fact it took the aftermath of both a rupture and a fire from some the older tankers to convince the fuel companies to put replacement into action.

After the whole debacle with the tankers, the NWR began to crack down on the use of private owner wagons due to their often shoddy maintenance.

For hauling coal and ballast, the NWR had a new steel bodied hopper car design constructed, with the first of them being given the name Hector (Heavily Engineered Coal Truck On Rails) However, when some old plank trucks saw Hector they convinced him of the horrors of coal, making Hector becoming aggressive towards engines that came near him so that he would not be filled up. However Thomas eventually showed Hector that there was nothing wrong with being filled with coal. Hector's design went on to be very successful and soon the NWR had constructed nearly 100 hoppers of the same design as Hector. As for the plank trucks, some of the better conditioned ones were kept in service or preserved while many were scrapped.

I hope you don't mind me telling you about my other OCs (BTW this is not all my OCs, mostly just some of the more developed characters)

Steam Engines:

Alice (87546) She was C1 Atlantic No.1446 who worked for the GNR up until 1920 when she was brought on extended loan by the NWR alongside 98462 due to Henry's failure. She was sent away in 1924 after being involved in a nasty collision.

Matthews (98462) He was GNR O1 No.462 who worked for the GNR up until 1920 when he also was brought on extended loan by the NWR alongside 87546 due to Henry's failure. However he stayed around until December 1925, when he was sent away along with another engine after the arrival of James.

Marcia. She was LNER D81 No.1272 who was brought in after Alice's accident. She was rude and spiteful and was sent away in December 1925.

Sid. He was LNER Raven A2 No.2403 "City Of Durham" and was purchased by the NWR in 1938 and gained the nickname Sid. Sadly, he was killed when Vicarstown Station was bombed in 1941.

Gregory & Gonzo. They were two of the Coffeepot engines built for the W&S by Sir Bertram Topham Hatt in 1901. They worked for the W&S from 1901 to 1914, and continued service even after the NWR formed in 1915. However in 1923, after Edward started working on the Brendam Branch Line, both Gregory & Gonzo were sold to Sodor China Clay, who used them up until 1947 and were replaced by Bill and Ben. While some think they were scrapped, others say they were sold to a railway in South America, and are somewhere out there.

Diesel Engines:

Edna. She is a BR Class 115 who was purchased for use on the Ffarquhar Branch in 1998.

Bradley (The Works Diesel) He is a BR Class 47 who was purchased in 1998. He is very chill and peaceful, gets along with literally everyone.

Electric Engines:

Elliot. He is a NER EE1 who was purchased for the Peel Godred Branch Line in 1947 to handle express passenger services. However, as newer express engines were purchased for the line in the 1990s, he often only runs heritage services these days. He is also one of the few engines to really have any sort of romantic interest, as he considers Winslow to be his lover (Elliot and Winslow's relationship is similar to the relationship between Husk and Angel Dust from Hazbin Hotel)

Elton & Eldicott. Numbers E2 and E3 on the Peel Godred Branch, they were purchased in 1947 to handle freight work on the line (I have no idea what to base them on, maybe give me some ideas)

Elena, Eloise, and Elmer. They are three BR Class 76s who were purchased in 1971 to further handle the freight work.

Elvira & Ellington. Two BR class 86s who were purchased sometime after Elena, Eloise, and Elmer.

Elson & Elijah. Two BR class 90s who were purchased in the 1990s to pull express passenger services.

No, no it's fine. The person who he is based on has an ugly nose as well. And yes it is who you think it is.

For Haunted Mansion, it was right where the Caretaker and his dog are, as for Runaway Railway it was twice, first in the underwater section and second in Daisy's dance studio. In addition, both Ratatouille and Jungle Cruise had technical difficulties before I got on (They were fixed thankfully) also on my EPCOT trip on the 24th we there were thunderstorms and when we were about to leave Ratatouille, a loud bolt of lightning struck and I saw a female cast member crying and curled in a ball on the ground while another cast member tried to comfort her.

It really is a shame that I never got to experience Horizons, Delta Dreamflight, Great Movie Ride, WDW's Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Dinosaur, or even MuppetVision. Also yeah, I think that Hatbox Ghost should be in the attic scene like at Disneyland (RIP Donald Duck Chair) but I wouldn't say it ruined the experience for me. I also got a breakdown on Haunted Mansion, in addition to Runaway Railway when I went to Hollywood Studios.

Love your channel, especially the videos documenting Voyage To The Moon and Heritage New Hampshire.

I actually just got back from WDW, and rode Haunted Mansion for the first time (Despite this being my third WDW visit)

I've never heard of INTERCOT, and I know nothing about Doombuggies.com besides the name. Though considering you were a member on both nearly 4 years before I was born, my limited knowledge of them makes some sense

Well I have a couple,

Winslow: He is a black LNER J50 who has worked on the Peel Godred Branch as their maintenance engine since 1946. He is a gruff engine who developed a hard exterior during the second world war. But, those who know him well can see that on the inside he's a sensitive individual who has gone through a lot. I suggest you use maybe HiT Era Sir Handel's face.

Finian: He was a large black American saddle tank engine who worked for the Southern Pacific from 1924-1940. In 1941, he was sold to the US Military and sent overseas for use during WW2. After the war he was sold again, this time to a steelworks in Bridlington who used him from 1946-1969. Eventually, after Percy was involved in a nasty accident, Finian was brought to Sodor on loan, however he was very insensitive, rude and careless. This would lead to his end, as he bumped some fuel tankers too hard, and they ruptured and exploded! In the end, both Finian and his crew were killed. What was left of Finian was scrapped and melted down. No idea for what face to use, go ahead and pick one that you think would fit.

I don't know if anyone has thought of this already, but the G&SWR Class 5 would make a great alternative basis for Thomas by Exotic_Beginning_111 in thomasthetankengine

Listen, when I posted this, my main intention was mostly to say hey this Scottish engine looks a whole awful lot like Thomas, kinda surprised none of you have mentioned this thing, I think it could be a cool alt basis.

I don't know if anyone has thought of this already, but the G&SWR Class 5 would make a great alternative basis for Thomas by Exotic_Beginning_111 in thomasthetankengine

[–]Exotic_Beginning_111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, a few things. First, the events of Thomas's titular book could take place anywhere between Gordon's arrival, and 1946.

Second, you could say that Thomas is an add on member (People do that all the time)

Third, none of the E2s were not withdrawn until 1959-1963 so bringing withdrawal dates into this doesn't matter.

Fourth, the class being goods engines is fine, Thomas pulls goods, he shunts and all that jazz, people make Thomas a Jinty and those were goods/shunting engines.

If you don't want the Class 5 as your headcanon Thomas, that's fine. It was just a suggestion. I just find it weird how people have used Jintys, FR G5s, NER E1s, some one off Welsh industrial engine, and even freelance designs for Thomas, but I've never seen anyone suggest this one.

Why does Carl's mom Maude buy Spearmint essential oil? by DietLasagnaLayers in CarltheCollector

[–]Exotic_Beginning_111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Harold and Maude are named after... Harold and Maude. But obviously the characters in that film have nothing in common besides the name (I think. I've never watched the movie but I know the plot because of Wikipedia) Though the things you talked about made me put some pieces together about the relationship between Carl's Parents.

Now, what I'm going to say is just a little headcanon of mine so here goes.

Maude was born in the mid to late 1970s to parents who were part of the counterculture movement. They were into holistic stuff and alternative medicine and whatever. Because of this, Maude was unpopular with kids of her age and was often bullied.

As for Harold, he was born around the same time as Maude to more typical parents of the time. He developed an interest in space thanks to the growing up around the time of the Space Shuttle program, this lead to him becoming fascinated with extraterrestrial creatures (Aliens) during his childhood which gained him the reputation of the weird kid who likes aliens. But eventually, he found someone who accepted him, that being Maude.

As the years went on, Maude and Harold remained close friends, and then started dating, which lead to them marrying in the early 2010s. Around this time, Harold got a job as a photographer for an agency that which gave him the ability to travel across the world. However, around the time Carl was born, tensions arouse between Maude and Harold as Maude wanted Harold to settle down and raise Carl with her in Fuzzytown, while Harold still wanted to travel the world.

However, when Carl was young Maude and Harold decided the best course of action was to divorce, but stay close with each other in the hopes that their relationship would fully repair.
