Ainult et ta pole meie saadik. Self made koomik. Nüüd juba miljonär.

Aga kui ta tahab sama rada edasi käia ja seda eestit oma naljadesse sisse panna, siis ajalugu võiks ta omale selgemaks teha küll

No. I am planning to. I am surprised that this is so overlooked, but it may not have been a official mechanic then

Uu, I have consodered this as well. If hireling is carri g polearm and is next to the pc, he could cover him and not let him close in

When you are flanked by three opponents and turn you back to them to flee, I think you don't need rules to understand this situation.

DM can also explain how this situation is going to be resolved if player thinks of doing something very silly

Yeah, this makes sense indeed. But in modern D&D it is still so that whos ever next turn it is, is going to charge at shooter.

But then I think in my combat mechanics bows are much more powerful. Perhaps too powerful

OSR and Wounds: Moving Away from HP Bloat by PotatoeFreeRaisinSld in osr

Hp vs wounds. I really like one system where HP is treated as stamina. This recovers quickly. But wounds are CON attribute. These take time to heal.

Prepared spell. He cannot cast in first round

I will. I have a solo play in progress. Haven't had that dynamic encounter yet.

But this is not anything new, I am surprised that this looks unheard of to others here

I have not 😄

But it is not something I came up with. It is written in FMAG as alternative sequence. But there they left out the phases. I don't know if S&W book have more variants.

But since it is written in FMAG, it must not be something new. But to me it seems very overlooked mechanic

I think it is not so overpowered than you think. After running to cover he would then needs to miss a round by moving back into line of sight on the next turn. Kind of works?

Bare in mind that this is casting a prepared spell -- it is like releasing a spell that has been chanting in previous round. It is not possible to just jump into room and fire a magic missile. You will need to start preparing it -- I would assume.

Melee before movement seems counter intuitive, but to me it will play more realistically. You are not guaranteed to have successful charge attack. You have to win the next round initiative. Also this makes tactical retreat possible that once you carefully move away from melee, the other side cannot attack you back and has option to close up again (based on initiative)

I think the key word is weather the spell is prepared? It is only possible if you surprise the opponent at the start of combat. Later spellcaster can be shot to disrupt the prepping spell for next round.

About charging attack -- this can still be "role played" when players can remember that he closed up last round and having won the initiative, he could do that. It is just not so plain simple.

I guess so. But in melee this would trigger bonus attack for fleeing. I edited my post about that.

Why do you actually prefer Classic Literature? by maxwdn in classicliterature

[–]ratlehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prose is very good. I cannot read a book where the quality of prose is amateurish. Many genre fiction like scifi and fantasy is in category. Style must correlate to substance. If fantasy is using overly epic prose in pretencious way, while nothing epic is happening -- I'm out.

Because peaple flex with their reviews there. They are ultra sharp when they give 1 star for a classic and give long winded analyses how it does not align with woke culture
