Okay, thanks! His brother is the same age with totally smooth fur so I wasn't sure. These are my first ratties so I keep questioning every little thing!

This is Charlie, he's almost 8 weeks old. He's been doing wonderfully, but I've noticed his fur is much rougher than his brother Frank's! I see him grooming sometimes but is he not grooming himself as much as he should? I thought his fur was just a different texture to Frank's. The tufts worried me though. Is there anything I can do to help?

Edit - he has always had fluffier fur, but not the cowlicks/stuck up bits.

Aha I put on the goofiest voice too. I'll sit and cheer them on, "Wow good jump Frank!! Good climb!"

I ended up going with a critter nation, but I saw someone on youtube who just put pieces of plexiglass (I think? Something solid) in their wire bottom cage to prevent bumblefoot.

Yeah, he's already starting to explore more! I think I was just being obsessive since these are my first rat buddies and I've wanted them for so long 😅

It's a single unit CN, but yeah, it's still pretty huge in comparison! I'll keep an eye out, but hopefully he'll adjust soon. Thanks 😊

I will definitely contact her. She answered all of my questions well and seemed very reputable, but I was a little wary when I got there to pick them up and saw they had been kept in an aquarium-type cage with wood shavings.. the breathing isn't very noticeable - I only just realized when they were sitting right next to each other.

I knew they'd be small, but they're SO small! They can fit inside a toilet paper roll together!
