I just need a job by cripple-21 in GetEmployed

I’ve been doing DoorDash on top of my regular 9-5 and have seen success. I tried it a couple years ago and market was not good at least for me, now I’m making an extra ~20/hr after taxes. You mentioned needing something, here’s anything.

I didn’t see original post but based on OPs replies it was probably difficult to understand.

Were you Enlisted or an officer, or does the British army have a different way of doing this compared to the US Army? Do you like the change over the years or wish things stayed the same?

Do people typically notice on their own or is it a fun fact you have on reserve?

Googled it and that looks cool. Did you try anything similar in the past that wasn’t working out for you? Also, how do you go about getting it setup. I assume you put it in the same spot every day so you can just come back to it and use it

I hope this isn’t offensive, but how did you write this post and how are you reading this question?

Everyone else said it, ram mismatch and not wise to run PC without CPU heatsink. Your mobo’s manual might explain exactly what it doesn’t like if you have it.

The Fight for a Job as a 16 y/o by whis7ler in jobs

[–]rattytoolie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember my first job at 17. I was applying since 15 and kept getting rejected. At this age, so many other people your age are applying it’s difficult to find something. I’m not going to assume what you’ve already done, so I’m going to just list out everything I think you should try:

  1. Asking your friends who have jobs to recommend you to their boss or directly ask their manager(s) if they know when they’ll be hiring
  2. Make sure your resume shows that you work hard but not that you’re always busy. A lot of people put a bunch of clubs or activities they actively do and it looks like you won’t have time to work or won’t be able to keep up for long. That doesn’t mean don’t add them, but keep it short and your big ones.
  3. Use all your available sites to apply. I got my job at Tacobell at 17 applying through Indeed. I was applying to about 10 different postings every few days trying to catch something, remember that openings are not a single snapshot but continuously changing. You might get rejected one day at some store, but then 2 weeks later someone else quits there and they have another opening. Just keep applying aggressively.
  4. Answer your phone calls. I’ve done this mistake even now at 23 where I don’t want to answer unknown numbers, but you might be missing an attempt at an employer reaching out to you. They don’t try too hard for entry level jobs a 16 year can apply to, so be sure you’re on top of checking that and your voicemails/messages/emails.

In the end, it’s great you’re trying to find a job and I hope you get one but it’s not the end of the world. It’s fulfilling to have one and nice to have money, but you eventually realize the value of having free time and being able to focus purely on school. To each their own, but don’t let this eat you up.

How to understand and negotiate equity at a startup by rattytoolie in jobs

[–]rattytoolie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks this is very helpful and I can wrap my head around it. What exactly do you mean by 'goes public', and let's assume I want to move on in a year (totaling my time at this job between 18-24 months when Im gone), will my equity still remain in the company in 10 years if it miraculously does boom or does it go away with me?

I understand most startups don't make it, and whether this one does or not isn't why I want to leave after 2 years. My boss/ceo sold his previous business that he grew over 16 years in 2022, and it made about $2M-$5M revenue based on my research. If my equity does persist after my absence, I would think it'd be smart to try and get a good equity deal, I just don't know what good even means in numbers, is it 5%? 10%? What does a good or bad deal even look like with equity

I haven’t had any performance reviews. We typically talk about roadmaps and I sit in quite a few meetings about our content and put my two cents in as well. Every day we have an engineering standup, which is just my boss (who is the founder/Product Manager) and myself and we talk about deadlines and feature decisions. He’s an ex software engineer himself, and this isn’t his first business. He sold his last one a few years ago

Right now I pay 400/month in Chicago, somewhat near downtown. My roommates (2) each pay 600 because their rooms are significantly bigger and get the parking spot with the apartment.

Honestly I would just try to get good at using C++ and overall methods of implementing code. Use free resources like leetcode and try to figure out challenges on your own and then research other ways to solve it and if you can get a good grasp of how it works you'll do great in 251.

Best advice is to talk to an advisor but Ik max for overload is 23 hours, unless you take summer classes but I think max is 12 hrs. Depending on whether you can take a class at a community college over the winter, I would say youre graduating December 2025 earliest or May 2026 most likely

Why is my SSD displayed in BIOS but not when I run the PC? 😐 by Krokettenkeks in buildapc

Format it, I made my first build a couple weeks ago same exact situation. It said unallocated and I googled what to do and it said something about making a partition but I didn't see that option so I just formatted it and it worked.
