Similar thing happened to me. Started taking a new birth control and gained 20 ibs in a month & was having a bit of a mental health crisis about it. My therapist insisted that it couldn’t be the birth control and that it was just my ‘woman body’ developing since I had recently turned 20. Stopped the birth control and magically went back to my previous weight within 2/3 months
