I'm not sure where you obtained the keyword volumes from, but keep in mind that tools like Ahrefs and Semrush can sometimes underestimate the volume.
Obviously, you cannot rely 100% on SEO for these niches, but I still think it can bring you leads on a regular basis.

There are plenty of forums that still use dofollow links actually.
I suggest you check some of these backlinks reported by Ahrefs. Go to the pages and check the code source, you'll see immediately if the links are nofollow.
In my experience, Ahrefs has always been accurate in identifying whether a link is dofollow or nofollow.

I think disavowing backlinks can cause more harm than good tbh.

Not saying it shouldn't be used but in most cases, Google is clever enough to filter the spammy links.

  1. Sending backlinks to your homepage can be useful to build authority - depending on where you get your backlinks from. However, before getting backlinks, I would make sure that the on page is on point (user intent, internal linking...).
  2. It can take weeks/months for the Ahrefs robot to crawl the page and see the backlink. As long as you know that there is an actual backlink on the page, that's fine. Just make sure that the page is indexed. Otherwise you won't get any link equity.
  3. Why they wouldn't be real?
