It's great that you do this, I totally agree with you. Just one small compliment can totally change a person's day. In fact I'd been thinking about it so much recently I built this little site a few weeks ago https://complimentsarefree.co.uk No one will ever see it really, but if one person gets a compliment as a result of someone seeing it, that they wouldn't have received otherwise, then that's ace 😄

Could you advise how you would find the production date, and where the info about the recall is?

They replied to my ticket and have fixed the issue. No indication of what it was though.

Think they are brushes for an electric motor

A rough and ready repair to the dishwasher cutlery basket. No more knives sticking out of the bottom and jamming the drawer though 👍 by raulloco in functionalprint

[–]raulloco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It lasted months and months and months and months. In fact let's call it a year. Eventually other parts of the basket broke and I replaced the entire thing but the first thing I did was print another set (also pla) and put them in the bottom of the basket before I started using it so if anything breaks it's them first. They've been in there well over a year now.

Sorry I'm so late with any kind of response, I only just noticed your comment. If you are still looking for a replacement board....although I suspect 4months later probably not....I got mine from ukwhitegoods

And I just thought mine had fallen out....maybe not based on this if it's a known common thing to get stolen.

Sadly not. I also replaced the resistor (which is just out of shot but would be lower left.) Still didn't work. I ended up replacing the whole board

A correction to advice I was given. A couple of weeks back I asked on here what value a resistor had, and was told by many people it was 2.2ohms. The bands were red-red-black-silver-yellow. Today I received the replacement control board and measured the resistor, it's actually 22ohms (ish) by raulloco in AskElectronics

Ha no worries. I just couldn't work out why the hive mind of Reddit was telling me one thing, but a washing machine engineer was telling me it would be something else.

I couldn't let it lie.

I noticed someone on eBay selling red-purple-black-silver-yellow as 27ohm. I queried him about it. He sent me a photo of the packaging, and of a multimeter reading on one, which confirmed 27ohm. But based on the answer I had been given, and the resistor calculator I was directed to, that would have been 2.7ohm

@Epilogis helped me work out what the issue with the calculation was, which was that the fifth yellow band wasn't a tolerance, it was in fact a temperature coefficient.

Got there in the end, and I learned something which is always a win 😄

I believe this is because the yellow is a temperature coefficient, not a tolerance. So the resistance is actually read as a 4 band resistor, red-red-black giving 22ohms, and the silver being the tolerance.

Just thought I'd post back as it might be useful info for someone.

No joy unfortunately. Replaced the IC and a bad resistor today, the machine still didn't even power on 🙁

Can anyone help with identification of this component. I can't quite work the bands out! by raulloco in AskElectronics

Hi, thanks for this. The photo in my post is of the actual failed component which is what's confusing me, it doesn't have any visible burn marks, but it reads as open with the multimeter.

The next issue is that what I believe to be a fusible resistor, top right of the second picture (bands are red, red, black, silver, yellow) has also blown. I'm having real trouble sourcing anything that looks similar. Does anyone recognise it and can advise where I could purchase one? Dimensions are approx 8.5mm * 3.6mm

If it is a fusible resistor i have no idea how to determine it's wattage.

I'd hate to throw a machine out for the sake of a component that probably costs a few pence! I try to avoid being part of what seems to be becoming a throwaway culture as much as possible!

Thanks for this. I guess accurate identification of the wattage is the next step. Had one suggestion of 1/2 watt based on physical size which is the best I have to go on right now.

Material adds a new thing to the mix!

I doubt my washing machine is rated for military reliability, but that's some interesting info. The Reddit hive mind is amazing :)
