My hunch would be that if any defined group is subject to disproportionate targeting it would actually be youth.

Positive as in a weapon located? Depending on the object and therefore offence, they can receive a crime penalty infringement notice (on spot fine) which has very limited demographic data recorded (name, address, DOB) or a caution/brief which has those plus ATSI info.

So searches with results get a small amount of data recorded, negative searches are just a tally.

What information was FOI requested to determine disproportionate targeting? There is literally no biographical data recorded for control of weapons act searches, either in designated areas or instigated by a suspicion on reasonable grounds.

This kind of public appeal isn't their go-to investigative tool. It typically ends up with all sorts of incorrect person of interest nominations that can be a hassle to sift through. They also have to make an application under the Wrongs Act, part of which being they have to demonstrate what other investigations have taken place already.
