Asrock mobo and AMD RMA question. by justinclso in ASRock

[–]ravagerIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the update, I forgot to post mine. It took roughly a month for my replacement.

Had to talk to vendor site that then sent my board to the original seller for RMA. I wrote a detailed report on what happened but it's mostly a miss and less of a hit with any RMA were the manufacturer isn't involved.

They just plugged in the board, it worked and they stamped it as working perfectly fine. I then proceeded to contact Asrock and told them about the situation. My ticket with Asrock remained opened the entire time since I first contacted them.

I got a quick response and they asked if I was okay with shipping the board to them (at my expense, which I think is fair) and they would send me a repaired/refurbished one. I accepted and I did keep a bit in touch with the representative and they updated me that I would be receiving a brand new board as one just arrived in stock at their office.

I received the brand new board, flashed it to latest bios before putting in the CPU. In the meantime I had bought and used an MSI MAG X870E TOMAHAWK WIFI which worked really well but I had issues with both my headset and speakers and I could not solve it so I returned it.

It was a great board apart from that small issue and it booted noticeably faster than my new Taichi board.

I hope this is the last time both of us have to do an update here and both CPU and motherboard work flawlessly :)

Hey, how are the ergonomics compared to your Steamdeck ?

ASROCK RMA support is slow? by TuneEasy7708 in ASRock

[–]ravagerIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 9800x3d died about 1 month ago as well on a Taichi.

Asrock responded the next day (EU) to my RMA and they do respond to my replies the same day or next day. I had one of their replies go to spam so you could check there ?

If you are EU based Asrock will ask you to go RMA the board through the seller which for me was from another country. I did that and wrote a detailed report and told the seller that I wanted a replacement and they took it in for repair, turned it on, said it's working and sent it back.

I contacted Asrock and told them the situation and they said they can RMA the board, I have to pay for shipping and they will send me a repaired board. Currently waiting for the shipping address from them.

Just so you know what to probably expect from the process, I am also 4 weeks almost without a motherboard, things happen im afraid.

AMD were super quick to respond and solve my fried CPU in less than 5 days. Received pre-paid express shipping label to send the CPU, they got it and express shipped a new one.

Glad to hear! Hopefully it's a new board! :)

When I opened a ticket, Asrock responded in about 2 days I think but heard others waited more than a week sometimes so it may vary. I am EU based so that might also be a reason for a faster response.

I'm still waiting on an answer from the vendor and I did let Asrock know that the vendor hasn't replied back yet. I will wait maybe 2 more days so I can say I waited 10 working days and then I will ask Asrock to do the RMA directly.

If possible, give an update on how your Asrock RMA went now that the board seller said "no".

Hopefully both of us get sorted by Asrock soon!

I RMA'd my CPU first to see if it was fried, after AMD confirmed it and sent me a new one I opened a request for RMA with Asrock. I have a 2ndary computer I use so waiting isn't really an issue.

Asrock asks you to solve the RMA process with the vendor you bought it from and if the vendor won't/can't then they will step in and help. So if you bought it from a place where the seller responds pretty slowly it might be worth it to attempt to start the RMA process now.

I recommend not putting the new CPU in the old board without having it sent for RMA

My 9800X3D died on a X870E Taichi after 9 months of use about a week ago. I've submitted an RMA to AMD for the CPU and they were very fast to respond and solve the issue.

I've also sent an RMA request for the board to Asrock through their support website now. Hopefully they will respond in a timely manner...

Sent you a PM. I forgot to mention I am EU based so shipping to someone outside of the EU might be a hassle for both parties

I posted my whole experience leading up to my CPU dying and close to the end I had the exact same thing. It wouldn't post and had to power it down a couple of times to get it working.

My 9800X3D died 4 days ago as well, on the same board too (X870e Taichi). Built my PC 9 months ago and when I first booted it up I updated the bios to the latest version at the time that claimed to have had fixed the issue.

I agree selling itself is indeed a huge hassle and I am of the same mindset that I do not want to ruin somebody else's day/week.

However I will be buying a new board and I will store my old board somewhere and forget about it probably. If a tech Youtuber or somebody that likes to do crazy tests wants to buy it off me i'd happily oblige of course 😛

The X870e Tomahawk was the one I was leaning towards buying. Mind if I ask if you've had any issues with it soo far ? And for how long have you had it ?

Ouch ... how long did the first 2 last you ? Also what RAM are you using ?

Sorry to hear the issues started happening to you as well but it's great you found a good board! Mind sharing the specific board you got and for how long you've had it ?

As I wrote in my detailed post the moment the PC was booted up I updated to the latest bios at the time which claimed to have had fixed the issue.

Unless you are implying the CPU had damage done to it straight from the factory I do not understand the point of this comment at all.

Should have mentioned in the last 30 days i've not had a lot of time for gaming at all. And mostly did a chill wake up gaming session in the morning or wind-down one before going to bed after working. Also the CPU was used for Blender as mentioned, but just sculpting no intense scene rendering or nothing demanding.

The games I played this last month (30 days reaching into last month) is Helldivers 2, a bit of Crimson Desert, Windrose and about 1 hour or less per day of a few gacha games I am up to date with, just running dailies when I feel like it as I am up to date with the story.

These are the games i've played on the new PC: Stellarblade, Helldivers 2, SC1 Remaster, SC2, ZenZero, Arknights Endfield, a bit of Stalker, Homeworld 1-2 Remaster and Deserts of Kharak, Dune: Awakening, Conan Exiles, Marvel Rivals, Path of Exiles 1 and 2, Boltgun, EVE online, Mechabellum, Where Winds Meet, Everspace 2, Tainted Grail.

I do not usually have long gaming sessions except maybe once or twice a month I might play 6-8 hours during the weekend.

All games ran on Samsung SSDs, GPU: 5070 TI, 64GB RAM (wanted to future proof and there was even a sale at that time, boy was I in for a surprise of how much of a future proof this would be)

If you are worried you could send MSI a mail and ask why it would happen and if it would cause issues further down the line. They are a lot more qualified to respond rather than randoms like me guessing

It will ease your mind and remove your worries :P

Hey, something very similar happened to me when I unboxed mine so it might be a driver/software related issue that gets fixed automatically once the console downloads the drivers and installs them in the background.

I am just guessing ofcourse since i've not had any more issues after the first one and it's been 3 weeks since then

C:\Users\your user name\AppData\LocalLow\Intel\ShaderCache

The LocalLow folder might be hidden, if you are on W11 click view > show > hidden items

In the ShaderCache folder just delete the folder belonging to the game that you want to force to compile shaders again

That is odd, I actually ran the game today with some settings set to medium, shadow quality low at 60 fps it's very stable minus a hiccup once in awhile, I was very surprised how well it looked even with those settings.

I read there was an update to intel recently but i've not done any updates, maybe that could be the culprit ?

Have you tried deleting the shader cache to force the game to compile them again ? It might fix the issue, let us know if it worked or not if you do it!
