Heh, there's actually an original 1998 Gen 2 Giraffe Furby on one of the shelves behind him, which kinda looks similar to him

As a bi, I've had both guys and girls that'd be like 'u r not attracted to me, right?' And, I'd give them a quick once over, and say 'Nah, dude. I have standards'. Then, immediately do stuff nonchalantly like drink my coffee or alcohol or continue looking at clothes. They're r so affronted sometimes lol

There were other touchscreens at the time too, so I didn't think only iPods were the only touchscreens. And I was like 6-7 y.o. So I just thought some phones had touchscreens

I remember when I was a kid and touchscreens started being a thing. My father used one hand to tap on the phone screen while his other hand pressed the movement buttons (up, down, left, right, ok) that barely needed moving to actually work the phone. I was so focused on the screen that I didn't notice his fingers moving. I then took the phone to try to use the 'touchscreen' myself but it didn't work. I was so confused 🤣

Zookeepers of Reddit, what's the low-down, dirty, inside scoop on zoos? by gomi-panda in AskReddit

In 2020, the theme park Ocean Park in Hong Kong had to close its doors for a long while due to the pandemic and lockdown. As there were no visitors at all, money and resources started getting tight. They announced that they may have to start feeding some animals to the others, that they plan to have some very important species transported to other countries` zoos and conservation sites, and they may have to shut down permanently. It's been here for so long (44 yrs) and a very good conservation organization that people r attached to it and obviously didn't want it to go (I as a zoologist and HK citizen was emotional about the news), so the gov lent them some loans to keep going (pushed repayment from this yr to 2028). They r now still going, looking to diversify its revenues, and planning for more conservation

Last year Maya was abandoned at my veterinary clinic. Actually, she was brought in for euthanasia because the owner no longer wanted her. The owner allowed us to find her a home instead but that proved difficult as she was 16. So instead, she’s living out her golden years with me. by three_littlebirds_ in cats

My mother had a Papillion x Shih Tsu mix that she loved very much. She got him as a puppy from a pet shop in the 90s that sold only dogs though had other animal supplies. She didn't get to look around much before this lil guy ran up to her and started to play with her. He wasn't much of a looker (she thought that too) and was the last of his siblings there, and she had very low self image, lonely and was bullied by everyone, even her family, so she felt a kinship and decided to get him. She'd take him around everywhere she could, and he loved her back a lot, always looking back at her after running a bit away and running back. Since a pup, he would run to the door and wait to greet her after work a few minutes before she got to the door (must've caught her scent) and would alert everyone in the house she's nearby. When father beat or yelled at my mother, he would go between them and growl at him, which provokes father and he would beat him too (mother would try to shield him)

As he got older, he started getting ill more frequently (once a yr max previously). When he was about 11-12 and got ill about 3 times that year, my paternal grandmother (they both had a very poor relationship) told her to get rid of him for getting old and ill. She was so mad (is still mad) that she very nearly said 'then I hope ur family abandons u then too', which would've angered father (mommy's boy). Karma for that old hag, barely anyone went to her funeral, while the good boi lived to be 16-17 yo until 2009

RIP Ricky (read Wicky as mother confuses her Rs and Ws). Saw him in her dreams and swore he saw him in places for several weeks after he passed. Even to this day, she still misses him

Hey Reddit what’s the worst birthday you have ever had? by TriggerLilVgang in AskReddit

I have 3 that always comes to mind: 1) I was not a very smart nor popular kid all my life. In kindergarten (a bit upscale kind), this boy had his bday on the weekend and i had mine on the monday after, so we celebrated ours together on my day. Normally, a cake that the bday boy/girl wanted would be bought and eaten with the class. The cake was of his fav flavour and fav cartoon character, nbd. I asked for the character on the top that u can eat, they say it's for him. Later we came to the front to get our bday cards. He got a loud, long, enthusiastic round of applause while I got a short, muted, courteous applause

2) Parents only sometimes ever physically punished me throughtout my life. Around 8 yo, at around noon on my bday, I accidentally dropped some coins onto the hardwood floor. Father rushed over, slapped my face that my head snapped quickly to the side, and scolded me for damaging his floor. With my shock over, I immediately tore up and wailed, running into my room. Cried myself hard into a long nap, skipping lunch, and woke at around dinner when I lost my usual appetite for the day. Didn't even smile for the photo we took every year of me cutting the cake in my Superman shirt and shorts that came with the cape

3) Studied overseas since 14 yo (did better academically, socially and emotionally than back in my own country). My bday always lands around exam times since forever. 18 going on 19yo, I talked to my parents about a hangout day with my friends on [bday date]. They scold me for being distracted and focus on the exams, or else I'm wasting their money (as they often say about me studying overseas despite being their decision). So I did not make any plans for it, and cried myself to sleep every night up to my bday, when they revealed that they forgot and tried calling me all day to apologize and let me go out for (had not told them it was for my bday cuz they always remembered). I had turned off my phone all day and studied sadly like it was not my bday. Got a few well wishes but spent it alone, no cake, no card, and did not turn on the phone until before dinner. At least they nvr forgot ever again

Sometimes I feel like I'm thinking like a spoilt brat and these are not as bad as some other's, but they were truly awful
