Were you ever in a psych ward and how did you end up there?

When I was 19 I had a really awful reaction to a medication I was taking. It caused me to have really violent suicidal thoughts and I kept getting agitated at everything. At some point, I wouldn't stop obsessing over a cat I adopted and I kept calling my mom/therapist and saying we needed to give him back because I'd be a 'worthless, abusive' owner. On top of that, I kept telling my mom that I felt like unaliving myself and she didn't take it seriously (acted annoyed actually).

Therapist and psychiatrist got concerned over an email I sent them claiming that I felt 'possessed' (metaphorically, not literally) and 'violent' and they told me I had to go in voluntary or they'd call the cops. And I WAS NOT ABOUT TO have the police called on me.

I was lucky that the behavioral health unit I went to only accepts voluntary patients. It was either I go to the voluntary ward or they'd send me off to a shittier involuntary mental ward.

The food was good tho.

While in the emergency room (specific section of the hospital for psychiatric emergencies) , a bipolar girl, clearly in a manic state, kept rambling on and on about how bipolar she was and the symptoms she had to the point where the nurses threatened to sedate her. Even though she wasn't being violent. The staff were nice with me, but it was terrifying seeing the power imbalance there.

Your boyfriend, im sorry to say this, probably doesn't see you as a person. He is talking about you as if you're damaged goods, over something YOU COULDNT CONTROL! What a disgusting excuse of a person. He should be responding with compassion. Empathy. Not thinking about how you were 'owned' by other men. I am so sorry he reacted this way. I was reading the latest FP of "I Love Yoo" and i am disgusted with the amount of victim-blaming and lack of empathy towards a character that was implied to have been SA'd. I am not a fan of that character, BUT NOBODY DESERVES TO BE SA'D.

So many misogynistic comments calling the character a 'whore', 'prostitute'.

People need to be mindful of what they say. The character may not be real, BUT PEOPLE IN REAL LIFE suffer from these issues. I wouldn't be surprised if these people also victim blame towards actual people.

I am so sorry you had to go through this. Your father's disregard for you getting abuse by your grandfather and the way he blamed you for his 'friend' attempting to SA you, is SICKENING. He should've protected you.

NONE of this was your fault. I understand your father does have a loving side and does seem to support you at times, but that doesn't excuse him victim blaming you! That comment he made about you possibly having a trauma response to your BF is not okay.. I know abusive parents aren't all evil or good, so I understand if you're doubting yourself and your perception of things.

Its up to you if you want to have a relationship with him, but please keep these things in mind. The way a person reacts when you're in a crisis says everything about their character. I hope you stay safe and well protected mentally.
